A compensator system includes an expandable frame assembly configured to compensate for motion of a floating platform or vessel in relation to a seafloor below. The expandable frame assembly includes a retainer for supporting a tubular member and a tubular string below. When the expandable frame assembly is in a first position, a first tool assembly, such as a coiled tubing assembly, may be connected to the tubular string. Thereafter, the first tool assembly may be disconnected from the tubular string. The expandable frame assembly may then be moved into a second position, and a second tool assembly may then be connected to the tubular string.

Multi-purpose compensator system

A motion compensator system for use on a floating vessel including a compensator cylinder assembly, a guide cylinder assembly, an upper carriage affixed to an upper end of both cylinder assemblies, a lower carriage affixed to a lower end of both cylinder assemblies, and a safety shutoff assembly. The compensator cylinder assembly includes three or more compensator cylinders. The safety shutoff assembly includes a compensator manifold and three or more compensator valves. Each compensator valve is in fluid communication with a pressurized fluid source through the compensator manifold and in fluid communication with a lower chamber of one of the compensator cylinders. The safety shutoff assembly is configured to isolate a failed compensator cylinder by setting the associated compensator valve to a vent setting and continuing normal operation of the remaining compensator cylinders. The motion compensator system optionally includes a lock system for securing the system in a retracted position.

Motion compensator system and method

A filtering apparatus includes a filtering screen removably positioned within an inner cavity of a screen chamber. The screen includes a frame portion at a first end and a screen portion extending from the frame portion to a second end. The frame portion includes an end block and frame members extending from the end block to the screen portion, with the frame members defining an aperture. The screen portion includes an outer wall extending from a fluid inlet to an end cap at the second end. The outer wall includes a plurality of openings therethrough. The screen chamber includes a removable end cover with a key configured to engage a notch of the screen to rotationally lock the screen and the end cover. A screen manifold may include a first fluid path including the screen chamber, and further including a bypass fluid path having a bypass valve.

Assembly and method for filtering fluids

A filtering apparatus includes a screen assembly removably positioned within an inner cavity of a screen chamber. The screen assembly includes a frame portion at a first end and a screen portion extending from the frame portion to a second end. The frame portion includes an end block and frame members interconnecting the end block and the screen portion. The screen portion includes an outer screen and an inner screen disposed within an interior space of the outer screen. An outer wall of the outer screen and an outer wall of the inner screen each includes a plurality of openings. The screen chamber includes a removable end cover with a key for rotationally locking the screen assembly in the inner cavity. A screen manifold may include a first fluid path including the screen chamber, and further including a bypass fluid path having a bypass valve.

A rotary slip bowl includes a tubular body having a central bore with an internal surface. The internal surface includes a tapered profile extending from a top surface to a generally straight profile. The rotary slip bowl also includes one or more umbilical grooves in the internal surface, wherein each umbilical groove is dimensioned to partially house an umbilical line. A rotary slip system includes the rotary slip bowl and a rotary slip set configured to be partially housed within the central bore. The rotary slip set includes two or more slip segments separated by spaces. One of the spaces is aligned with each umbilical groove of the rotary slip bowl. A handle is affixed to an upper end of a slip segment with the handle positioned adjacent to one of the spaces. The rotary slip system may further include a carrier for transporting the rotary slip bowl.

A well surface control system for use with various types of work strings such as, but not limited to, drill strings, coiled tubing, snubbing pipe, electric line, production tubing, and wireline. The system includes a main housing with a main bore extending from one end to the other. The main housing is equipped with a side port which communicates with the main bore between the two ends. The main housing is also equipped with two valves for controlling fluid and/or gas flows through the main bore and for severing a component of a work string running through the main bore. The first valve is positioned between the side port and one end of the main housing and the second valve is positioned between the side port and the other end of the main housing. Attached to each end of the main housing is a saver sub, with means for temporarily locking the saver subs to the main housing to prevent circular and longitudinal movement of the saver subs in relation to the main housing.

Dual mini well surface control system

An apparatus for performing well intervention work on a rig. The apparatus comprises a first spreader that is operatively connected to a derrick, a pair of I-beams that have a distal end and a proximal end, and wherein the distal end of the pair of I-beams are connected to the first spreader. The apparatus further comprises a second spreader, and wherein the proximal end of the I-beams is connected to the second spreader. The apparatus further comprises a first pivot point on the first spreader and a second pivot point on the second spreader. In the most preferred embodiment, the apparatus further comprises a door, operatively attached to the second spreader, for allowing entry of the tubular. Also, the second spreader may include a shoulder for engagement with a tubular so that the tubular is supported by the second spreader so that the weight of the tubular can be transferred to the second spreader. A method of lifting a tubular used in well intervention work on a rig is also disclosed.

Articulating bail assembly and method

A surface flow control system for a well. The system comprises a main housing having a main bore there through, and a first port communicating with the main bore. The system further comprises a first valve positioned within the main bore, and wherein the first valve is placed at a position above said first port; and, a second valve positioned within the main bore of the main housing, and wherein the second valve is placed at a position below the first port. The system may further include a swivel connected to the main housing. A second port communicating with the main bore may also be included. In one embodiment, the first port is connected to a tank for collecting fluids discharged from the well, and the second port is connected to a pump for pumping into the well. A method of controlling well pressure is also disclosed.
