Disclosed is an extractor for an autoloading firearm, the extractor having an extractor body extending a proximal end portion to a distal end portion. A knuckle is between the proximal end portion and the distal end portion and defines a pin opening extending crosswise through the extractor, where the pin opening has an elongated shape. During rearward movement of the bolt after firing, the elongated opening enables the extractor to shift downward and/or forward so that part of the extractor contacts the bolt, thereby preventing the extractor from pivoting about the extractor pin.

A firing pin lock for firearms is provided. The firing pin lock is a single piece of resilient metal that includes a pocket for receiving the head of the firing pin to prevent inadvertent discharge of the firearm. The firing pin lock can be mounted laterally in the bolt carrier group and is deflected outwardly by the action of the hammer.

A recoil assembly for a rifle includes a baseplate comprising a baseplate body extending longitudinally along a central axis from a proximal end to a distal end, the baseplate body defining an opening extending along the central axis and configured to receive an end of a recoil spring guide rod. A latch plate extends up from the top surface of the baseplate body, the latch plate defining a charging handle opening a catch surface for a charging handle latch. In use, the recoil baseplate can be received in an aperture defined in the upper receiver of a rifle, where one or more recoil spring guide rods are received in the opening in the baseplate body. A charging handle can be slidably received through the charging handle opening and charging handle aperture of the upper receiver.

A charging handle for a firearm includes a longitudinal body with a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion includes at least one latch lever operable between a first position and a second position, the latch lever including a blocking plate. Moving the handle from the first position to the second position moves the blocking plate from a blocking position to a non-blocking position. The charging handle can be used with a firearm that includes a protrusion extending up from the rear-end portion of the lower receiver or from the recoil assembly. In the blocking position, the blocking plate is aligned with the protrusion and prevents the charging handle from rearward movement. When the blocking plate is in the non-blocking position, the blocking plate clears the protrusion to permit the charging handle to be drawn rearward.

A weapon system is provided. The weapon system includes a receiver and an operating group. The operating group includes a bolt at least partially housed within the receiver; an operating rod (op-rod) assembly arranged to axially translate within the bolt. The operating group also includes a carrier assembly, a bolt assembly, and a recoil assembly. The system further includes a hinge or pivot joint at a connection between the recoil assembly and the carrier assembly, a firing pin lock, an elastomeric cone interface between the bolt assembly and the receiver, a hollowed out piston, and/or tapering on the lug of the bolt assembly.
