A polymeric composition exhibiting a fast cure rate composition comprises a polyfunctional urethane acrylate component; an epoxy component; and a polyfunctional amine component. The polyfunctional acrylate component and the polyfunctional amine component have sufficient functionalities such that the polyfunctional urethane acrylate component reacts with the polyfunctional component to form a secondary amine component. The secondary amine then reacts with the epoxy component such that a crosslinked polymeric material is formed.

A composition suitable for forming a paint marking on a roadway comprises a polyfunctional urethane acrylate having at least two acrylate groups, an epoxy component and a polyfunctional amine. The polyfunctional urethane acrylate reacts with the polyfunctional amine to form an adduct with secondary amine groups. The secondary amine reacts with the epoxy component to yield a chemically crosslinked material having a no track time of less than about ten minutes.

Hindered amine adducts for polyurea systems

An excess of a urethane modified polyfunctional epoxide compound is reacted with a tertiary amine salt to form a quaternized epoxy resin. The quaternized epoxy resin is then dispersed in water. Therein the residual epoxy functionality is reacted with a polyamine, to form a waterborne epoxy resin system. The urethane modification leads to significant improvements in properties such as dry rate, adhesion, and chemical resistance, particularly aviation hydraulic fluid resistance. The waterborne dispersions of the urethane modified epoxy resins are useful in coating, ink and adhesive applications at ambient and elevated temperature curing conditions.

A curing agent for a water borne epoxy resin composition wherein the curing agent is the reaction product of a chemical excess of a polyfunctional epoxide compound and a quaternary ammonium salt in which substantially all of the excess epoxide groups in the reaction product are subsequently consumed in a reaction with a polyamine. A process for preparing the curing agent and a hardenable film forming coating composition containing as essential components, the curing agent, at least one water dispersible epoxy resin and water is also disclosed.
