A chain drawing machine for continuous drawing of drawing stock made of metal and the like, in particular rod-shaped and tubular drawing stock, includes at least two drive chains associated with a common drawing path. Each of the drive chains has connected drawing members, with the drawing members having on one side a clamping shoe that can be pressed against the drawing stock, and on the other side a sliding surface. The drawing members are supported on a fixed roller guide that is associated with each driving chain, and on the sliding surface by rotating load-bearing idler rollers. At least one relief recess divides a respective roller guide into several guide paths; and at least one relief recess divides a respective sliding surface into several sliding paths. This arrangement, in conjunction with a circumferential taper in the idler rollers extending across the entire sliding surface, elastically supports the drive chains which increases of the load-bearing capacity of the machine.

Chain drawing machine for continuous drawing of drawing stock

A structural component (21) is moved axially back and forth with the aid of a closed cam (40A) arranged on a rotating cam carrier (33) for mechanically entraining cam follower rollers carried by the structural component. At least one roller (26) of a pair of rollers contacts one cam surface of said closed cam with a controlled contact force. For this purpose the contact force between the cam follower rollers and the respective cam surface is varied during one cam revolution in such a way that in an angular range (41) of the reversing point (O.T., U.T.) the contact force of at least one cam follower roller that transmits the motion in the respective direction, is increased to such an extent that this force corresponds at least to the inertia force resulting from the brake application or acceleration of the component to be moved. Outside of the angular range (41) the cam follower rollers (26, 27) are kept in contact with the cam surfaces with a minimal force.

Method for a translatory motion of components

Method of straight-line drawing for reducing the cross section of round material, tubing, solid and hollow profiles in at least two drawing stages, which includes feeding material to be drawn with a leading end to a first drawing machine for a first drawing stage, feeding the material to be drawn with the leading end in a straight line downstream of the first drawing machine. Subsequently the material to be drawn is fed with the leading end to at least one second drawing machine having a linearly movable intermittently operable drawing carriage operating at a discontinuous speed at the beginning of the drawing while said first drawing machine is already operating continuously, being disposed downstream of the straight line for at least one second drawing stage. Next, the material to be drawn from the straight line upstream of the second drawing machine is deflected as soon as the leading end of the material to be drawn has reached the second drawing machine, and the length of the deflected material is varied for equalizing differences in feeding speed between said first and second machine.
