An artificial knee joint includes a femoral component (), provided with a medial condyle (), a lateral condyle () and a front flange (). The medial condyle () and the lateral condyle () are joined together in proximity with the rear end of the intercondyle groove () by a femoral cam (), and separated by the intercondyle groove () in the remaining part of their extension. A tibial component includes a tibial plate and a tibial insert (). The tibial insert () is configured to support the medial condyle (), and the lateral condyle (), and is provided with a tibial post (). The femoral cam () is asymmetrical and comprises a distal surface () shaped like a drum which articulates with the tibial post ().
