The novel solution provides a closing part comprising an electromechanical drive for a CD injection molding machine having a working stroke and a servicing stroke. The entire mold closing unit is characterized by the combination of a short-stroke crank mechanism which is operated by an electric motor and which is provided for the working stroke and of a central electromotive column-type nut drive for the servicing stroke. According to the invention, synchronous motors or asynchronous motors are used with corresponding servo boosters to realize servo axles. The central column drive is used as a control element of the closing force control, together with a force sensor for detecting the closing force, as an actual value transmitter and as a control device.

Mold closing unit

A pressing-in unit for a hot-chamber pressure diecasting machine permits an electro-mechanical drive for the casting plunger. In order to absorb the moments of inertia of the drive which occur during the switch-over of the casting plunger drive from the mold filling phase to the after-pressure phase, a spring element in the form of a plastic component or a liquid spring is inserted between the casting plunger and the pusher rod moved by the electric drive, which spring element is compressed by the additional path which the pusher rod still covers after the braking of the motor. The extent of the compression is selected such that the resulting axial force which is exercised by the plastic component or by the liquid spring is sufficient for causing the desired after-pressure in the molten metal.

Injection unit for a pressure die casting machine

A hot chamber die-casting machine has drive assemblies in the form of electrical servomotors instead of hydraulic cylinders for driving and pressing a feed bush to the nozzle. The feed rate of the servomotors is adjustable. In order to avoid the influence of heat from the smelter and the furnace, the rotational axes of the servomotors located above the smelter and the furnace are connected through an angle drive to the spindle drive and aligned approximately vertically. This makes it possible to achieve a time-optimized and precise feed regulation that is independent of temperatures which develop.

A vertical adjustment device for a mold closing unit of a hot chamber die-casting machine is provided with a shear mechanism. An electrical servomotor is provided as a drive assembly for spreading the shear mechanism apart, with the axis of the servomotor being parallel to the guide surface for the shear mechanism and driving, through an angle transmission, a spindle oriented at less than 90&deg; with respect to the drive axis of the servomotor. One end of each of the two lever pairs of the shear mechanism is connected pivotably with the closing unit or with the machine frame. The other ends are supported on the guide surface and the machine frame and on a guide surface of the closing unit.

Mold closing unit especially for a hot chamber die-casting machine

A method is disclosed for controlling an injection molding machine of the type having an injection screw drivable for axial movement within an extrusion cylinder by a drive-controlled servo motor through a mechanical transmission, to provide a filling phase, a dwell phase, and a plasticization phase, the servo motor having a velocity command signal input connection, and the molding machine having sensors for screw position and injection pressure. The method includes the steps of presetting desired values for at least one of the injection pressure and the screw position; sensing the respective one of the corresponding actual injection pressure and actual screw position; and transmitting non-zero velocity command signals to the drive-controlled servo motor during at least the plasticization phase, and preferably also the filling and dwell phases, to move the injection screw within the cylinder. The velocity command signals are calculated as a function of a deviation of the respective one of the actual injection pressure and the actual screw position from the respective preset desired value, preferably using a linear functional relation during small deviation values, and a non-linear functional relation for large deviation values, to improve stability.

A process of manufacturing molded parts using a mold with relatively movable parts enclosing a mold cavity which is fed with plasticizable material, comprises directing grains of the plasticizable material into a vertically elongated vestibule having a lower end connected to the feed of the mold cavity and directing hot gases into the lower end of the vestibule and upwardly through the plasticizable material therein to make the material weldable and, thereafter, directing the weldable material into the cavity under pressure. The device for carrying out the process includes a feed conduit which is connected into the cavity which is disposed below a vertically elongated vestibule which has a closed top and a bottom opening into the conduit. The vestibule includes an upper substantially cylindrical first zone portion, a lower substantially cylindrical third zone portion, of a smaller diameter than the upper first zone portion, and an intermediate second zone portion interconnecting the first and third zone portions which is of frusto-conical configuration. The granular material is fed into the intermediate zone of the vestibule and hot gases are circulated to the lower end of the bottom third zone portion and upwardly through the material in each of the zones and out through the top of the first zone portion. A ram is movable in the feed conduit to direct the weldable plastic material into the mold cavity defined between the two mold parts.

The valve arrangement includes four main control valves connected in a bridge circuit connected, at one end of a first diagonal, to a source of fluid under pressure and, at the other end of the first diagonal, to a fluid reservoir. Opposite ends of a second diagonal of the bridge are connected to inlet and outlet ports of the operated device. The arrangement includes two pressure adjusting valves, each connected to a respective pair of main control valves. In one bridge circuit, the main control valves are pressure limiting valves and each pair of main control valves includes one main control valve in one branch of the bridge circuit and another main control valve in the other branch of the bridge circuit. In a second bridge circuit, the main control valves adjacent the connection to the source of fluid under pressure are pressure reducing valves, and the main control valves adjacent the connection to the reservoir are pressure limiting valves, with each pair of main control valves including a pressure reducing valve and a pressure limiting valve forming a bridge branch. In the second bridge circuit, pilot-controlled check valves are included in the connections to the operated device. The pressure adjusting valves are electrohydraulic valves continuously adjustable between the closed and the fully open position and each associated with a respective potentiometer for adjusting its exciting current.
