The invention relates to the use of O-imino-iso-urea compounds as source of radicals to polymerizable compositions comprising these O-imino-iso-urea and to new O-imino-iso-urea compounds. The O-Imino-isoureas compounds are compounds of the formula (I) whereinand salts thereof.

The invention pertains to high-molecular photoinitiator compounds comprising a photoactive moiety Q and an amine functionality, preferably a tertiary amino group, where the photoactive moiety Q is a benzoyl photoactive moiety.

The invention relates to the use of O-imino-iso-urea compounds as source of radicals to polymerizable compositions comprising these O-imino-iso-urea and to new O-imino-iso-urea compounds. The O-lmino-isoureas compounds are compounds of the Formula (I), wherein n is 1, 2, 3 or 4, Rand Rare independently H, Calkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Caryl, C-Cheteroaryl, C-Caralkyl, C-Cheteroaralkyl, Cyano, or Rand Rform together with the carbon to which they are attached a mono or polycyclic C-Ccarbocyclic or C-Cheterocyclic ring; Rand Rare independently C-Calkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Caryl, C-Caryl once or more than once substituted by C-Calkyl; C-Caralkyl, (CH)Si&#x2014;; or Rand Rare C-Calkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Caryl, C-Caralkyl or Rand Rare C-Calkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl which are interrupted or substituted by O or by N containing groups selected from C-Calkylamino, bis(C-Calkyl)amino or tris(C-Calkyl)ammonium; Rif n is 1 is H, C-Calkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Caralkyl, C-Caryl or acyl selected from the group consisting of the following acyls &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;H, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;C-Calkyl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;C-dalkenyl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;C-Caryl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;C-Calkenyl-C-Caryl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;CCalkyl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;C-Caryl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;NH&#x2014;C-Calkyl, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;NH&#x2014;C-Caryl and &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;N(CCalkyl); or Rand Rif n is 1 form together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached a 5 to 12 membered ring which may contain additional heteroatoms, Rif n is more than 1 is di-, tri-, tetra-C-Calkylidene, diacyls, triacyls or tetraacyls and salts thereof.
