A device for limiting the bending of a cable includes a body made of polymeric material for housing a portion of the cable connected to a joining element and includes at least two rigid elements incorporated in the body and defining spacing elements in the radial direction for the portion of cable, these rigid elements having a substantially annular shape and different diameters and being mechanically independent of one another.

In a terminal for a high-voltage electric cable the electric cable is terminated at a predetermined height from its entry into the terminal and the electric connection between the cable conductor the overhead line is obtained by a rigid conductor element. The rigid conductor element, preferably a copper pipe, is provided with an elastomeric ribbed coating and is supported by an insulating base preferably made of an epoxy resin. An assembly constructed from an epoxy resin base and a rigid conductor element brings the electric field at the surface to a value consistent with the dielectric strength of the air and is long enough to form an insulation path suited for the installation environment.

Terminal for an electric cable

The enclosure assembly, being particularly but not exclusively conceived for use over electric cable splices, comprises a sleeve of an elastomer material, a support whereover the sleeve is fitted in a condition of elastic expansion, said sleeve being adapted to shrink around the elongate cylindrical objects upon removal of the support. The support comprises two substantially cylindrical, tubular bodies having ends abutted coaxially with each other in mutual continuation relationship; the abutted ends are disposed at substantially inward locations of the sleeve longitudinal extension. Thus, the support removal can begin from a predetermined internal region of the sleeve; the sleeve starts shrinking over the splice within said internal region, and any axial deformations in the sleeve would leave the sleeve positioning relatively to said predetermined internal region unaffected.

A covering for a joint between electric cables, an element including such covering for forming a covered joint and a joint obtained with such covering. The covering includes two radially elastic sleeves of cross-linked polymeric material, one sleeve being inside and co-axial with the other sleeve. In the unassembled state, the diameter of the bore of the outer sleeve is less than the diameter of the outer surface of the inner sleeve so that when assembled, the outer sleeve exerts radially inward pressure on the inner sleeve. Each sleeve may be formed of one or more tubular layers of polymeric material.

Cable joint coverings, devices for applying such coverings and joints

An electric covering for a joint between a pair of electric cables, a device including such covering in elastically expanded condition on a rigid tubular support and electric cable joints including such covering. The covering includes at least two elastic sleeves of cross-linked polymeric material, a first radially inner sleeve at least partly of insulating material and a second radially outward sleeve. To permit the covering to be elastically expanded and encircling the rigid support for a long period of time, e.g. two years, the two sleeves have different mechanical properties and in particular, the material of the second sleeve has a residual deformation, which is applied by elongation over a period of time, which is less than the residual deformation, similarly applied, to the material of the first sleeve. The covering can also include a radially innermost stress grading, elastic third sleeve of cross-linked polymeric material, and the sleeves can be in contact and bonded together at their contacting surfaces.

Joint for cables with an extruded insulation

A stop joint between a pair of electrical cables of different types, such as an oil filled cable and a cable with extruded insulation. Both cable ends are terminated in a known manner except that the conductor of one cable is mechanically and electrically connected to the conductor of the other cable by a rod surrounded by a body of insulation, portions of the insulation at opposite ends thereof being respectively covered by the insulation of the terminating elements of one cable and by the insulation of the terminating elements of the other cable. The body has a flange which is clamped to one of the cable terminating elements, and to provide electrical interconnection of the cable shields, the central portion of the body is covered with a semiconductive varnish.
