A method for providing on-demand quality-of-service for a data connection of a user equipment to a 3GPP data access network, this method comprising a sending step, during the attach procedure of the user equipment to the 3GPP data access network, of a message from the user equipment to the 3GPP data access network, this message including an access point name, this access point name comprising an explicit quality-of-service request being requested by the user equipment for the data connection, this explicit quality-of-service request being formatted in a predefined syntax.

The invention relates to a method for connecting a mobile node () comprising a plurality of network connection interfaces () to at least one network () using the mobile internet protocol with the following steps for the respective interfaces (): &#x2014;the mobile node () retrieves a local IP address (CoAa, CoAb) and at least one DNS server () address using DHCP on the interface (), &#x2014;the mobile node () stores in a list the at least one returned DNS server () address, &#x2014;the mobile node () queries the at least one DNS server () which has its address stored in the list for home agent service and receives either a 'service not supported' failure notification or the address of at least one home agent () reachable on the interface (),&#x2014;the mobile node () stores in the list the results of the query, either 'service not available' or the home agent () addresses returned for the respective DNS Servers () inquired, &#x2014;the mobile node () obtains a home address (Ho Aa, Ho Ab) on the interface, _13 the mobile node () attempts to perform a binding update for care-of-address (Co Aa, Co Ab) and home address (HoAa, HoAb) towards the at least one home agent () address stored in the previous list and updates its stored list accordingly with respective binding success or binding failure notifications, in case of success, the mobile node () records on the list a fully qualified domain name associated to the interface (). Method to connect a mobile node to a network

Method for managing mobility of a mobile device (MS) within a network using a proxy MIPv6 protocol comprising MAG and LMA logical functions, wherein MAG issues a PBU to bind the mobile device (MS) with the LMA, a LMA-time being initialized and maintained within the LMA and the method comprising a relative time synchronization procedure between LMA and all of the MAG connected to it, said procedure providing that each MAG sends a PBU with specific semantics to request the LMA-time, the PBU acknowledgement (PBU-Ack) sent by the LMA including such LMA-time, said LMA-time being further maintained within each MAG, the method further comprising a binding procedure in which all of the MAG insert in each PBU sent a timestamp including the current maintained LMA-time. Upon receipt of a LMA-timestamped PBU from a MAG, the LMA sends a successful PBU-Ack if no other MAG currently binds the mobile device (MS) with the LMA or if the timestamp is newer than the one received from the MAG currently binding the mobile device (MS); an out of date PBU-Ack if the timestamp is not newer than the one received from the MAG currently binding the mobile device (MS).

A method is disclosed, by which a local mobility anchor (LMA) In a proxy mobile IP network can perform address assignment for a mobile node in cooperation with network address translation, so that the mobile node can be configured with a private HoA. In one embodiment, the LMA obtains the NAI of a mobile node (MN) that is: (i) operating as an IPv4 host and (ii) seeking entry to the network as its home network. The LMA identifies a DHCP server located in the network and serving at least one NAT, and sends it a request message in which the ClientId is set equal to the NAI of the mobile node. The LMA receives a private HoA from the DHCP server, which it forwards in a PBA message to a mobile access gateway (MAG) connected to the MN.

The invention provides a high availability control method for a router in an autonomous system, the router being in communication with other routers using an IS&#x2014;IS protocol via interfaces and presenting both an active IS&#x2014;IS protocol engine and a standby IS&#x2014;IS protocol engine. The method comprises steps of storing data concerning adjacency, the state of links, and interfaces in a memory of the active protocol engine, updating the data stored in a memory of the standby protocol engine, and activating the standby protocol engine using the updated data. The invention also provides a router implementing the method. The invention serves to increase router availability in the event of a failure or of maintenance actions.
