A removable handle for a surgical light fixture includes a tubular handle, a circular shield, and a threaded portion. The circular shield includes two living hinges which permit the shield to be folded down against the handle for storage. A plurality of tabs are disposed on the lower face of the shield, and a matching indentation is formed on the lower end of the handle, to enable two handles to be frictionally engaged together by engaging the tabs of one handle with the indentations of the other. The handle is attached to a light fixture by means of an adapter which includes at least one projecting portion which presses against and deforms the circular shield and prevent the living hinges from hinging, thereby causing the folding portions of the circular shield to be held rigidly in place while the handle is attached to the light fixture.

A lighting fixture handle and adapter assembly for attaching a handle to a lighting fixture. The handle includes an elongate member and a shield having a central portion and two hinged side portions movable between a folded position and a use position in which the side portions are substantially aligned with the sides of the central portion. At least one of the handle and adapter includes a biasing element for biasing the shield in such a manner that side portions arranged in the folded position will be repositioned to the use position when the handle and the adapter are secured to one another.

Protective handle and adapter for use with a surgical lighting fixture

A container lid for a medical storage-disposal container including a slide closure resistant to inadvertent movement from an open position into a fully closed and locked position. The container lid includes a top cover defining a disposal aperture and a laterally oriented depression. The slide closure contains a descending flange configured to engage the top cover depression and lock the slide closure in a fully closed position. An obstructing tab is pivotally coupled to the top cover and projects into the disposal aperture. The slide closure can only be moved into a fully closed and locked position if the obstructing tab is rotated into a non-obstructing orientation. The slide closure further includes protrusions on opposing lateral sides to require application of an affirmative force in order to displace the slide closure from a fully opened position. The slide enclosure further includes a plurality of straight sided apertures to facilitate removal of protective covers from hypodermic needles of varying size. The top cover further includes an aperture intersecting a tapering slot to facilitate removal of hypodermic needles of varying sizes from syringe bodies.

A medical instrument holder and sharps disposal device is disclosed wherein a pair of plastic container body halves are provided to be manipulated between opened and closed positions by associated hinge means and a mechanical lock. A medical instrument rest in the form of a one piece molded plastic insert is provided on one of the body halves for positioning medical instruments thereon when the container is in its open position. A cushion of reticulated foam material is provided to receive and envelope the tips of sharps associated with the instruments laid upon the rest. Sharps removal means are provided for assisting in the release of medical instrument sharps from the associated medical instruments. A magnetic means is also provided within one of the container body halves for receiving and holding such removed sharps to facilitate the counting a subsequent disposal thereof within the container when a medical operation has been completed and the sharps and container are to be discarded.
