A device for cooling batteries, particularly of an electric and/or hybrid vehicle, includes a pair of compartments () in communication with one another, including a first compartment () housing the batteries distributed among adjacent columns and a second compartment () housing at least a blower (). One of these compartments () has an air intake aperture () while the other compartment () has a discharge aperture () for discharging the admitted air to the outside. The first compartment () modifies the dynamics of the air passing through it, starting from an axial circulation of air along the columns of batteries.

Device for cooling batteries of an electronically and/or hybrid powered vehicle

A device for cooling batteries, particularly of an electric and/or hybrid vehicle comprises a pair of compartments () in communication with one another, including a first compartment () housing the batteries distributed among adjacent columns and a second compartment () housing at least a blower (). A refrigerant-fluid circuit has a compressor, a condenser serving as heat sink and a first evaporator serving as cold source. The circuit also has a second evaporator and the refrigerant fluid is made to flow either only in the first evaporator, or in the two evaporators, depending on the cooling power required.

A signal value is derived that is representative of the cooling power produced by an air-conditioning evaporator, the signal value being derived from at least one temperature sensor placed in thermal contact with the evaporator, or downstream from it in the cooled airflow, and the signal value is compared with a reference value corresponding to a normal refrigerant-fluid level. A signal value below the reference value indicates a low level of refrigerant-fluid.

The temperature of an airflow cooled by an evaporator of a closed loop air-conditioning system, determined by means of a sensor, is compared with a theoretical value corresponding to the control current of an external-control, variable-displacement compressor, in order to detect a low level of refrigerant fluid in the system or any blocking of a compressor valve.

Method for checking the state of a closed loop air-conditioning system comprising a variable-throughput compressor

In a device for air conditioning a motor-vehicle passenger compartment, a control module adjusts electrical power supplied to a motor-driven fan unit delivering airflow to a condenser of the device. Means are furthermore provided for recording an air throughput passing over the condenser and produced, at least in part, by the motor-driven fan unit. A regulation module estimates a maximum value of the electrical power supply to the motor-driven fan unit, for a given air throughput, with a view to limiting the electrical power supply to this maximum value, as a function of the air throughput.
