An assembly, in particular for the power supply circuit of a discharge lamp in a motor vehicle headlight, the assembly comprising a wound transformer together with a printed circuit on which said transformer is mounted, wherein said printed circuit is mounted on a metal soleplate forming a heat sink and wherein the ferrite element(s) of the transformer is (are) in thermal contact through its (their) whole surface directly facing the metal soleplate, with the printed circuit or with the metal soleplate.

An electronic assembly comprising a heat sink and a double-sided printed circuit card assembled to the heat sink by hot pressing. The card carries a plurality of surface-mounting components on its face remote from the heat sink. Further, the card carries at least one through component and the heat sink has a void over the zone of the printed circuit card which receives the through component. The ends of the pins of the component are bonded to the card inside the void.

A circuit for controlling a DC/AC converter of a power supply circuit for a motor vehicle headlight discharge lamp, the circuit comprising a primary circuit, voltage-feed means for feeding the primary circuit with voltage, and a secondary circuit coupled to the primary circuit by mutual induction, the secondary circuit delivering a voltage controlling the non-conductive and conductive state of a MOSFET type transistor of the DC/AC converter, the voltage that the power supply means deliver to the primary circuit constituting a modulated high frequency carrier voltage, the secondary circuit including means for converting the high frequency voltage delivered to the primary circuit into a control voltage for the transistor that is greater than or less than a given non-conductive or conductive threshold, as a function of the modulation of said high frequency voltage, the conversion means of the secondary circuit including a switch connected between the grid and the source of the transistor, said switch being open circuit while a high frequency voltage is being delivered to the primary circuit and short circuiting the grid and the source of said transistor when the said high frequency voltage disappears, said conversion means also including first capacitor means providing the control voltage to the switch, and second capacitor means which charge whenever the high frequency is being delivered to the primary circuit and which discharge into said first capacitor means when said high frequency voltage disappears, whereby said first capacitor means then keep said switch in the conductive condition.

A converter for powering a discharge lamp of a motor vehicle headlight, the converter comprising a primary circuit and a secondary circuit which includes two branches connected in parallel, each of which is coupled by mutual induction with the primary circuit, and two diodes connected in such a manner as to prevent either of the branches discharging into the other, the transformation ratio by mutual induction with the primary circuit of one of the two branches being greater than the transformation ratio of the other, the branch having the greater transformation ratio including a switch controlled by control electronics in such a manner as to be on whenever the voltage of the lamp is greater than a given threshold voltage, and to be off whenever said voltage becomes less than said threshold.
