A coil assembly in a fuel injector includes a magnetic core and; a winding wound around the core, the winding being overmoulded and forming a cylindrical overmoulding. An axial blind hole extends towards the interior of the coil assembly from a first surface to a distal end, the blind hole being suitable for housing at least one spring for loading a magnetic armature. The coil assembly is provided with a degassing hole passing through the core and the overmoulding from the blind axial hole to an axial outer cylindrical surface, the degassing hole being provided in the magnetic core and having a restriction that is arranged in a first section that is proximal to the blind axial hole.

Coil assembly

An electrical module for use within a fuel injector for delivering fuel to an internal combustion engine is described. The electrical module has a variable length. The electrical module comprises electrical contacts for operatively connecting the electrical module to a power plug of a fuel injector. The electrical module also comprises an actuator for operatively controlling a control valve disposed within the fuel injector. The electrical module also comprises electrical conductors arranged within a protective housing. These electrical conductors provide an electrical connection between the electrical contacts and the actuator in order to provide electrical power to the actuator when the electrical contacts are operatively connected to the power plug of the fuel injector. The body of the electrical module is comprised of a compressible elastic element, such that the length of the module is variable by compressing the elastic element. Injectors including such electrical modules are also described.

Fuel injector

A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine includes: an injector body of substantially elongate form and defining an injector body axis; an injector nozzle disposed at one end of the injector body; and a plurality of element connectors for providing fluid and/or electrical connection into and/or out of the fuel injector wherein at least some of the element connectors are arranged to be rotatable relative to one another about the injector body axis.
