An exhaust turbocharger including a modular bearing designed for bearing a shaft and arranged between a compressor and a turbine is provided herein. The bearing has a bearing housing having a receptacle chamber, wherein a bearing assembly module can be or is installed in the receptacle chamber and can be non-destructively removed. The receptacle chamber is sized such that either a bearing assembly module having a rolling bearing or a bearing assembly module having a slide bearing can be installed. The receptacle chamber has an interface, designed to contact the bearing flange of a bearing assembly module inserted into the receptacle chamber. The interface is designed to connect an oil gallery passing through the bearing housing to one or more oil galleries passing through a bearing flange of the bearing assembly module.

Exhaust turbocharger having a bearing assembly module

A radial bearing arrangement of an exhaust gas turbocharger for mounting a shaft in a bearing housing is disclosed. The radial bearing arrangement comprises a radial bearing bush arranged between the shaft and the bearing housing, wherein the radial bearing bush features a radially outwardly projecting collar, which interacts in the axial direction with an axial stop on the bearing housing. The geometry of the radially outwardly projecting collar is interrupted by cut-outs, such that a force acting on the collar as a result of an oil feed pressure is minimized, and wherein the radial bearing bush is configured such that a lubricating film can form between an end surface of the radial bearing bush and a counterpiece arranged on the shaft.

Plain bearing with hydrodynamic axial securing

A hydrodynamic axial bearing with a floating disk is disclosed wherein two lubricating gaps on the two sides of the floating disk are formed by supporting surfaces of different size. This makes it possible to provide identical lubricating gaps on both sides, despite different rotation speeds between the floating disk and the bearing housing, and between the floating disk and the bearing comb.
