The invention provides analyzers that improve tests for detecting specific cellular, viral, and molecular targets in clinical, industrial, or environmental samples. The invention permits efficient and specific selection and sensitive imaging detection of individual microscopic targets at low magnification. Automated embodiments allow efficient walk-away, on-demand, random-access high-throughput testing. The analyzers perform tests without requiring wash steps thus streamlining engineering and lowering costs. Thus, the invention provides analyzers that can deliver rapid, accurate, and quantitative, easy-to-use, and cost-effective tests for analytes.

A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing communications including an extended protocol header is presented. A message is provided in a communication protocol, the message having a header. An extension is included in the header, the extension including additional information. The message is transmitted to a recipient, wherein the recipient is capable of utilizing the additional information contained in the extension to the header to provide additional functionality.

A teleconferencing system () comprises multiple teleconferencing bridges () each having an associated database (). A server () hosts a local engine () associated with each bridge, and a multi-site engine (). For a 'global' conference utilising the resources of at least one other system (), the multi-site engine () communicates over TCP/IP () with an equivalent multi-site engine of the other system to set up a link line via PSTN () between the bridges (). During the conference, the multi-site engine () automatically transmits event-driven updates to the remote system, and likewise receives such updates from the other system.

According to the principles of the invention, there is provided a conferencing system that dynamically assigns calls to DSP resources. The system may attempt to process each audio conference on a single DSP node, so that information about conference participants does not need to be shared across DSP nodes. Further, the mapping of call channels to resources within a DSP node may be automated so that it is transparent to a conferencing system control application. Where more than one DSP node is required for a particular conference, there is further provided a system for linking DSP nodes. There are also provided methods for managing audio conferencing resources.
