A deflector sheave mounting bracket for mounting a plurality of individual deflector sheaves of an elevator system includes a top plate, a bottom plate, and a plurality of support plates connected at a first end to the top plate and connected at a second, opposite end to the bottom plate. A plurality of openings for receiving the plurality of deflector sheaves is defined between pairs of adjacent support plates of the plurality of support plates. At least one opening of the plurality of openings is vertically offset and horizontally offset from another of the plurality of openings.

A counterweight is provided including a counterweight frame including a crosshead. A counterweight hitch is operably coupled to the counterweight frame. The counterweight hitch includes a vertically stacked first sheave channel and a second sheave channel. Each of the first sheave channel and second sheave channel includes an interior cavity within which at least one individual sheave assembly is mounted. The plurality of individual sheave assemblies is substantially identical and arranged at an angle relative to a central plane of the counterweight frame.

Counterweight for elevator system

A support member configured for use in a machine room of an elevator system is provided including a base having a car end and a counterweight end. The counterweight end is arranged substantially parallel to a wall of the machine room, and the counterweight end is arranged at an angle relative to the car end. An idler sheave having a plurality of grooves is mounted to the base in an orientation generally parallel to the car end. The idler sheave is configured to rotate about a first axis of rotation. A plurality of individual sheaves is mounted to the based in a staggered configuration substantially complementary to the angle of the counterweight end relative to the car end. Each individual sheave is configured to rotate about a second axis of rotation parallel to the first axis of rotation.

Bedplate for elevator system

A pitless elevator system removes a car buffer and machine, and other components where so equipped from under the elevator car such that the elevator car can be operated to a clearance between it and a floor of a hoistway of about three inches. The machine may be mounted on board the car or may be located elsewhere and the car buffer located in normal side clearance space. The system further provides a retractable toe guard to allow the car to bottom at the indicated distance from the floor. The system facilitates retrofit applications of elevators without the prior art drawback of digging a pit.

A single support device () is adapted to support and secure a machine () at least one sheave () and a plurality of termination members (). The single support device () is conveniently installed within a hoistway () or within a machine room (). The machine () and sheave () may be premounted to the support device () and the entire assembly can be lowered into position by crane ().

Integrated support for elevator machine, sheaves and terminations

An elevator system includes a hoistway defined by a surrounding structure. An elevator car and counterweight are located in the hoistway, and a drive motor is located between the elevator car and a sidewall of the hoistway. The drive motor drivingly couples and suspends the elevator car and counterweight via at least one flat rope or belt.

A structural system for elevator assemblies includes a horizontal compression member positioned near the top of the elevator hoistway for reacting to inwardly directed tension loads and moment forces applied to the hoistway wall and connection components resulting from the elevator vertical load. The horizontal compression member includes a rigid member positioned in a compression state between mounting structures for elevator ropes and elevator machine components such that the compression member reacts and counters inwardly directed horizontal forces and resultant moment forces caused by a centralized, downward vertical load.

A steering angle of an elevator sheave on a shaft is adjusted at installation and subsequently during maintenance by one of several embodiments. In one embodiment, a bolt with a jam nut is adjusted to position the shaft precisely. In another embodiment, a tee bracket is anchored to a hoistway wall, and a jack bolt with shims is used to adjust the vertical placement of the long beams that support the elevator car frame and therefore the shaft.

Method and apparatus for adjusting steering angle for elevator sheave

An improved method for mounting elevator rails within a hoistway includes the initial step of securing support brackets to a pair of rails. The brackets, rails, a machine for driving a cab and a dead end hitch are then mounted within the hoistway. A cab may then be moved vertically within the hoistway and additional support brackets are placed at vertically spaced locations. The connection of the brackets and rails provides support to dissipate the loads which are transferred into the rail in such systems wherein the machine or the dead end hitch is fixed to a rail. Once the rails have been adequately supported by additional brackets, the brackets which are secured to the rails are removed from the rail. The brackets provide support, but are no longer fixed to the rails.

Method of installing elevator rails

An elevator machine mounting system for use in a machineroom-less elevator system includes a two-piece frame that is anchored to an elevator hoistway. The first frame piece is permanently anchored to the hoistway wall. The frame is anchored at the top of the hoistway and at the floor slab of the top landing. The first frame piece includes top counterweight rail brackets and a portion of the rail bracket for the car and counterweight at the top landing level. The first frame piece also includes a counterweight dead-end hitch and a controller/drive mounting. The second frame piece is fitted to the first frame piece after the elevator machine is mounted to the second frame piece. The second frame piece is adjustable postwise with respect to the first frame and then bolted thereto.

A hoist tool for lifting a machine assembly in an elevator to an installation position is mounted to a machine beam which also supports the machine assembly. The hoist tool is thus mounted in a location where it does not require any additional axial space. Preferably, the hoist tool is mounted to one lateral side of the machine assembly, and within an axial extension of the machine assembly downwardly from the machine beam into the hoistway.

A pivoting hitch for an elevator rope includes a horizontal shaft or ball having a circular base and a flat top. The shaft or ball rests on a seat. An elevator rope is connected to a rod which passes through a hole in the shaft or ball and is suspended on the flat part of the shaft or ball by a spring. The shaft is used when multiple ropes are used to suspend an elevator car. When used with an overslung or underslung elevator car suspension, the pivoting hitch keeps the rope angles on both sides of the elevator car the same.
