Devices, methods, and systems for a self-testing hazard sensing device are described herein. One device includes a sensor, a wire dipped in a material, a controller configured to provide a current to the wire to heat the material and generate aerosol and/or carbon monoxide, and an airflow generator configured to provide the aerosol and/or carbon monoxide to the sensor. The controller configured to determine whether the self-testing hazard sensing device is functioning properly using the aerosol and/or carbon monoxide provided to the sensor.

Systems and methods for delaying or activating a blowout device in a sampling pipe network of an aspirated smoke detection system are provided. Some systems can include an aspirated smoke detector, a sampling pipe coupled to the aspirated smoke detector, a blowout device coupled to the sampling pipe, and a delay device coupled to the blowout device. Responsive to the aspirated smoke detector detecting a triggering event, the delay device can delay the blowout device from performing a blowout action in the sampling pipe or can instruct the blowout device to perform the blowout action in the sampling pipe.

An aspirated smoke detector includes a manifold coupled to a smoke sensing chamber of the smoke detector. The manifold couples ambient smoke from a plurality of locations to the smoke sensing chamber. A location of the origin of the smoke can be determined by associating a member of a plurality of a different type of smoke sensor with each of the locations. When smoke is detected in the sensing chamber, the members of the plurality can be interrogated to determine the location of the origin of the smoke in the sensing chamber.

Multi-channel aspirated smoke detector

An aspirated smoke detector includes an ambient air flow separation element in combination with a smoke sensing chamber. The flow separation element can be an active or a passive element. Separated ambient, carrying relative small particles can flow into the sensing chamber. Ambient carrying relatively larger particulate matter is excluded from the sensing chamber.
