An example welding type system includes: a welding power circuit having a control input and a welding type power output; a feedback circuit configured to provide feedback regarding the welding type power output or a weld produced using the welding type power output; and a controller connected to the feedback circuit, wherein the controller includes a parameter setting module and a process selection module, the process selection module configured to automatically select a welding process from a plurality of welding processes based on the feedback from the feedback circuit or one or more welding parameters set by the parameter setting module.

An additive manufacturing system includes an additive manufacturing tool configured to supply a plurality of droplets to a part, a temperature control device configured to control a temperature of the part, and a controller configured to control the composition, formation, and application of each droplet to the plurality of droplets to the part independent from control of the temperature of the part via the temperature control device. The plurality of droplets is configured to build up the part. Each droplet of the plurality of droplets includes at least one metallic anchoring material.

Additive manufacturing heating control systems and methods

Welding system and method permit exchange of data with Smart Grid monitors and/or controllers. The welding systems include a welding power supply configured to convert power between the power grid and the welding power supply. A grid interface cooperates with control circuitry to transmit data to and/or from the grid monitors and/or controllers on the grid side. The control circuitry may control operation of the welding power supply based upon data from the grid. The system may include power generation devices (e.g., engine-drive generators) and energy storage devices (e.g., batteries), The control circuitry may control operation of such devices, the exchange of power between them, and the draw of power from the grid or the application of power to the grid based upon the data exchanged with the grid monitors and/or controllers.

An example weld training system includes a display device; an input device; a processor; and machine readable instructions cause the processor to demonstrate to a user an effect of a combination of welding-related variables by: enabling the user to design a weld procedure using the input device by selecting weld parameters including weld current and weld voltage; simulating a welding operation on a simulated workpiece using the selected weld parameters in a welding model and a simulated physical welding environment to determine a modeled result of the welding operation; displaying a simulation animation of the welding operation on the display device according to the simulation; displaying the modeled result of the weld on the display device using at least one of an image of a surface of a weld bead or a cross-section of the weld bead and the simulated workpiece; and displaying information about an anomaly present in the weld determined based on the simulation, the information about the anomaly comprising at least one of a cause of the anomaly, a suggested change in one or more of the welding-related variables to avoid the anomaly, or a location of the anomaly in the image of the weld bead or in the cross-section of the weld bead.

Systems and methods to provide weld training

Welding systems and methods utilizing cloud computing and data storage are disclosed. An example method includes receiving, via communication circuitry of a cloud-based resource, welding data relating to a welding operation from a first customer; storing the welding data in computer-readable storage media associated with the cloud-based resource; offering the welding data for sale, via the cloud based resource; receiving, via the communication circuitry, an offer for the welding data from a second customer, different from the first customer, wherein the first and second customers are individual welders, factories, distributed manufacturing operations, or a combination thereof; performing a financial transaction with the second customer; and transmitting, via the communication circuitry, the welding data to the second customer.

The welding bug robot is configured to move on a track disposed around a circumference of a first pipe and perform a root pass welding operation at a joint between the first pipe and a second pipe. The control circuitry is configured to control movement of the welding bug robot around the circumference of the first pipe, apply a high energy welding phase via the welding torch to establish a first root condition, and apply a low energy welding phase via the welding torch to establish a second root condition.

An example weld training system includes: an orientation device; a mobile device; and a mount configured to attach the mobile device to a welding accessory, wherein the mobile device comprises: one or more sensors including at least a camera; a processor; and a machine readable storage device storing machine readable instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: recognize identifiers on the orientation device based on images captured via the camera; determine at least one of position information or orientation information for a welding torch with respect to the orientation device based on the recognized identifiers; and display, via a display of the mobile device, a welding operation based on the at least the position information or the orientation information.

Systems and methods for a weld training system

An example welding user interface system includes: a user interface configured to receive a plurality of control inputs indicative of a plurality of weld specifications, wherein the plurality of weld specifications comprise two or more physical attributes of a weld, the physical attributes comprising two or more of a workpiece thickness, a joint type, a workpiece material, a fillet size, a penetration depth, a penetration profile, a bead width, a wire type, a wire feed speed, or a gas type; and a processor configured to convert the weld specifications from the plurality of control inputs into electrical parameters of a welding power source, and to control an output welding power of the welding power source based at least in part on the electrical parameters.
