A tile composition having a unique appearance created by the use of inlaid particles over an embossed and printed pattern is disclosed. In preparing the tile product, a first layer of UV curable coating is applied over the entire upper surface of a tile base. An excess of particles or chips is then sprinkled onto the surface of the first coating layer and the non-adhering particles are removed. The first layer is subjected to curing and a second layer of UV curable coating is then applied over the particles and the first layer followed by a second curing step. In one embodiment, the second coating is obtained by a combination of coating methods, including one or more direct roll coating steps followed by a curtain coating step. The particles or chips should preferably include chips of three types: (a) pigmented base color chips of which about 77 to 100 weight percent are of a U.S. mesh size in the range of between 60 and 200; (b) clear chips of which about 77 to 100 weight percent are of a U.S. mesh size in the range of between 60 and 200; and (c) accent color chips of which about 90 to 100 weight percent are of a U.S. mesh size in the range of between 40 and 200.

Inlaid tile

A process for multi-color valley printing and embossing of thermoplastic sheets and the like is provided wherein the number of colors that may be printed on such sheets simultaneously with the embossing operation exceeds the number of different color inks utilized by printing such inks individually in certain area and by blending two or more of the different color inks to print additional colors in other areas. A plurality of such different color inks are applied to the surface of a rotatable embossing and printing roll in a manner such that certain discrete surface areas thereof receive individual layers of a single color ink and other discrete surface areas thereof receive overlapping layers of at least two different color inks. During the embossing operation, the roll is rotated in contact with a sheet of thermoplastic material to emboss a design and print single colors on such sheet in the areas thereof contacted by the surface of the roll containing the individual layers of single color ink, and to emboss and print additional colors derived from blending the overlapping layers of the different color inks under the pressure of the embossing and printing roll in the areas of the sheet contacted by the surface of the roll containing such overlapping layers of different color inks.

Process for multi-color valley printing and embossing of flooring

A simulated exterior surface assembly for creating the appearance of brick, stone, or the like. A sheet of plastic material, preferably vinyl, is provided with a series of simulated brick face sections or the like, defined by lines of weakening, where such sections are separable one from another by ordinary flexing. The sheet is provided with a peel-away self-adhesive allowing the simulated sections to be readily adhered onto a suitable undersurface. An optional arrangement includes the use of a mortar colored vinyl self-adhering backing material which is first placed on the undersurface and thereafter the individual simulated sections are suitably disposed thereon.

Tile assembly

A simulated exterior surface assembly for creating the appearance of brick, stone, or the like. A sheet of plastic material, preferably vinyl, is provided with a series of simulated brick face sections or the like, defined by lines of weakening, where such sections are separable one from another by ordinary flexing. The sheet is provided with a peel-away self-adhesive allowing the simulated sections to be readily adhered onto a suitable undersurface. An optical arrangement includes the use of a mortar colored vinyl self-adhering backing material which is first placed on the undersurface and thereafter the individual simulated sections are suitably disposed thereon.
