A refrigerant vapor compression system includes a compression device having at least a first compression stage and a second compression stage arranged in series refrigerant flow relationship. A first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger is disposed downstream with respect to refrigerant flow of the second compression stage. A first refrigerant intercooler is disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression stage. The first refrigerant intercooler is disposed downstream of the first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger with respect to the flow of the first secondary fluid. An economizer includes a vapor line in fluid communication with a suction inlet to the second compression stage. A second refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger is disposed intermediate with respect to refrigerant flow of the second compression stage and the first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger. A second refrigerant intercooler is disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression.

Refrigerant vapor compression system

A compact heat exchanger assembly for a refrigeration system includes a heat rejection heat exchanger assembly and a heat absorption heat exchanger assembly. The heat rejection heat exchanger assembly includes a primary heat exchanger and a secondary heat exchanger. The primary heat exchanger has a tube bank extending between a first manifold and a second manifold. The tube bank being provided with at least one bend such that the primary heat exchanger has a generally curvilinear shape. The secondary heat exchanger is disposed between the first manifold and the second manifold.

Compact heat exchanger assembly for a refrigeration system

A multiple tube bank heat exchanger includes a first tube bank including at least a first and a second flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship and a second tube bank including at least a first and a second flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship. The second tube bank is disposed behind the first tube bank with a leading edge of the second tube bank spaced from a trailing edge of the first tube bank. A continuous folded fin extends between the first and second flattened tube segments of both of said first tube bank and said second tube bank.

Flattened tube finned heat exchanger and fabrication method

A method is provided for manufacturing a manifold assembly with internal fluid communication between a first manifold defining a first fluid chamber and a second manifold defining a second fluid chamber of the manifold assembly, the first manifold and the second manifold joined in parallel relationship along a longitudinally extending interface between a wall of the first manifold and a wall of the second manifold. The method includes: forming a first access port in a wall of one of the first manifold and the second manifold diametrically opposite the interface; forming a first fluid communication port extending through a wall of the first manifold and a wall of the second manifold at the interface and defining a first fluid passage between the first and second fluid chambers; and sealingly plugging the access port.

Method for manufacturing a multiple manifold assembly having internal communication ports

A heat exchanger is provided including a first manifold, a second manifold separated from the first manifold, and a plurality of heat exchanger tubes arranged in spaced parallel relationship fluidly coupling the first and second manifolds. A first end of each heat exchange tube extends partially into an inner volume of the first manifold and has an inlet formed therein. A distributor is positioned within the inner volume of the first manifold. At least a portion of the distributor is arranged within the inlet formed in the first end of one or more of the plurality of heat exchange tubes.

Low refrigerant charge microchannel heat exchanger

A heat exchanger is provided including a first manifold and a second manifold separated from the first manifold. A plurality of heat exchange tube segments are arranged in spaced parallel relationship and fluidly couple the first and second manifold. Each of the plurality of tube segments includes a first heat exchange tube and a second heat exchange tube at least partially connected by a web extending there between. The plurality of heat exchange tube segments includes a bend defining a first section and a second section of the heat exchange tube segments. The first section is arranged at an angle to the second section. A plurality of first fins extends form the first section of the heat exchange tube segments and a plurality of second fins extends from the second section of the heat exchange tube segments.

An air-cooled chiller system includes a heat exchanger including a first tube bank including at least a first and a second flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship; a second tube bank including at least a first and a second flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship, the second tube bank disposed behind the first tube bank with a leading edge of the second tube bank spaced from a trailing edge of the first tube bank; a fan creating an airflow across the first heat exchanger, the airflow flowing over the first tube bank prior to flowing over the second tube bank, wherein refrigerant flows in the heat exchanger in a cross-counterflow direction opposite that of the airflow direction.

A multiple bank, flattened tube heat exchange unit includes a first tube bank including a plurality of flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship between a first manifold and a second manifold and a second tube bank including a plurality of flattened tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship between a first manifold and a second manifold, the second tube bank disposed behind the first tube bank. The second manifold of the first tube bank and the second manifold of the second tube bank form a manifold assembly wherein an interior volume of the second manifold of the first tube bank and an interior volume of the second manifold of the second tube bank of the manifold assembly are internally connected in fluid communication.

Multiple tube bank heat exchange unit with manifold assembly

A method is disclosed for assembling a flattened tube multiple tube bank heat exchanger that includes a first tube bank and a second tube bank, each bank including a plurality tube segments extending longitudinally in spaced parallel relationship. A spacer clip is installed on a longitudinally extending edge of each heat exchange tube segment arrayed in a first layer of tube segments. A plurality of heat exchange tube segments are arrayed in a second layer in engagement with the spacer clips installed on the tube segments of the first layer.

Method for fabricating flattened tube finned heat exchanger

A single-station tube expander apparatus bells and expands the open ends of heat exchanger hairpin tubes in a plate-fin heat exchanger unit. A frame supports belling jaw fingers which close over and the open ends of the tubes so that a belling device can enter the tube ends to urge the tube outward into a profile surface formed in the mating faces of the fingers. Also on the frame are mounted expander jaw fingers which close over tube ends which have been belled previously, and hold the associated hairpin tubes against axial movement while expander rods pass into the associated tube legs to urge the hairpin tube legs outward to contact against the fin plates and tube sheets of the fin pack heat exchanger. The belling fingers and belling device move step by step from one tube to another, and the expander gripping fingers and expander rods follow the belling fingers and belling device.

Single station tension hairpin tube expander

A flexibly programmable belling and tension expanding device for plate fin heat exchanger coils is carried on a shuttle or carriage that moves between first and second work stations. An operator assembles a fin plate heat exchanger unit at a work table at one work station while the device automatically bells and expands the hairpin tubes of another unit at a second station. When assembly is complete, the operator signals a programmable controller, and the shuttle brings the device to the one coil after it completes the expanding of the other, and it commences an automatic expanding operation. Then the operator removes the expanded coil and assembles another coil at the second station while the device is belling and coiling at the one station.
