An angulating spinal plate assembly for fixation and/or support of bones of the spinal column is provided. The angulating bone plate includes interleaved, arcuate sheets that facilitate relative motion between first/second elements. An implant assembly is also provided that includes an angulating bone plate and associated first/second intervertebral plates that extend therefrom. The angulating bone plate generally includes an interleaved elements, e.g., an upstanding tab that cooperates with opposing faces of an opening, that permit rotational movement as between first/second implant elements until a desired relative orientation is achieved. At such time, a fixation/locking element is generally employed to fix the first/second implant elements relative to each other. The rotational movement permitted is generally in multiple planes based on the cooperative arcuate surfaces provided in the disclosed elements, i.e., side-to-side and top-to-bottom freedoms of movement.

Angulating bone plate

Methods, systems and apparatuses are provided for torsionally stabilizing a spinal motion segment. One or more implants are placed between two vertebrae to provide torsional stabilization. In particular, one or more implants may be fixed between a superior vertebral body, such as at the spinous process, and an inferior vertebral body. The implants may be connected to the superior vertebral body using a fixation device such as a turnbuckle, an outrigger, a thimble, an endobutton, a suture plug or combinations thereof. The implant may also be connected to the inferior vertebral body using various types of hardware, including staples, screws and anchors. The implant may be kept in tension to provide torsional stabilization and may be comprised of one or more sutures. A multi-functional instrument having one or more arms having holes can be used to clamp onto the superior vertebral body and guide one or more implants to various locations for fixation in accordance with the methods described herein.

Methods, systems and apparatuses for torsional stabilization

The present disclosure relates to the field of spine disc implants. Exemplary embodiments of the disclosed spinal disc implants advantageously and ultimately provide fusion with the body of the vertebra and stabilization of the spine in an anatomically correct position, e.g., in cervical, thoracic and/or lumbar regions. More particularly, the present disclosure is directed to a disc implant that addresses and overcomes the shortcomings of the prior implants by providing first and second inter-vertebral elements that are movably coupled relative to each other and are adapted to permit bone in-growth over time. Thus, the disclosed spinal disc implants permit relative movement between the first and second inter-vertebral elements upon implantation and after the patient is mobilized&#x2014;thereby permitting the implant to assume a desired position based on the specific and unique spinal balance of the patient in an initial post-implantation period&#x2014;but then the first and second inter-vertebral elements become fixed relative to each other (i.e., fused). The present disclosure also provides advantageous instrumentation and associated methods for positioning a spine disc implant in a desired anatomical location.

Spinal implant, instrument for preparation and method of use

A spinal implant as provided having a porous body that includes a leading end, a convex trailing end and first and second sides extending between the leading and trailing ends. At least a portion of the leading end is generally straight. The body further includes a generally dome-shaped superior surface and a generally planar inferior surface. The superior surface is convex between the leading and trailing ends and is convex between the first and second sides.

Spinal implant

A device for facilitating bone fusion of two vertebrae. The device is sized and shaped to at least extend between the two vertebrae to be fused, and includes an outer wall member disposed about an inner portion. A space between the outer wall member and the inner compartment is adapted to contain an osteogenic bone fusion material. The inner portion includes a compartment adapted to contain an inner fill material, such as a bone cement or an in situ curable polymer. The inner portion may operate as a structural member to maintain a desired amount of spacing between the vertebrae to be fused, and to support the spinal column prior to formation of the fused bone joint. The device is also configured to locate the osteogenic material away from the centers of the vertebrae to be fused, providing a fused joint with high bending and torsional rigidity.

Vertebral fusion device and method

A spinal motion device for implanting in the spine as a replacement for the natural disc, to permit motion between adjacent vertebral bodies or as a vertebral body replacement that permits motion at its ends. The spinal motion device comprises a composite structure formed by a body having at least one bearing member, made from a biocompatible material such as pyrolytic carbon, attached to a support surface thereof.

The present disclosure concerns implants to at least partially replace the nucleus of a spinal disc. In one embodiment, a prosthetic implant is provided which includes a bag structure having a fixation component or member, the bag operable to contain at least one internal implant within the bag. In other embodiments, a bag structure is provided with a flange adaptable to anchor the structure to a vertebral body and a sinusoidal-shaped structure made of a flexible material is provided with various unique configurations. In one embodiment, for delivery, a bag structure with a flange may be attached to a vertebral body. In another embodiment, a sinusoidal-shaped implant structure is alternately woven from one end to the other with a second sinusoidal-shaped structure.
