A locking device includes a projecting member and a retaining member. The projecting member has a bulbous head which is securely retained by the retaining member which includes a body portion having a passageway or void formed therethrough. An interference defined by at least one embossment is disposed within the passageway to provide a reduced diameter portion which precludes separation of the projecting member from the retainer. Depending on the materials of construction the interlocking relationship between the projecting member and the retainer can be permanent.

Fastening system

A fastener having two like plates effects joining through the interdigitation of bulbous heads formed to each plate. The plates have a plurality of intersecting, perpendicular walls. The intersection points of these walls define where heads may be formed thereto. Heads are attached to the plates atop stems formed integrally with the walls. The bulbous nature of the heads and the strength supplied by the formation of the walls allows for a strong yet releasable fastening of the plates.

Locking burr for interlocking fasteners

A fastening system for fastening devices using manual pressure includes at least two flexible opposed fastening members each of which has a plurality of alternating flexible burrs and burr seating cavities. The burrs of one member interdigitate with the burr cavities of the other member when pressed together. The head of the burrs lock into the opposing head cavities securely holding the fastened devices from sideways movement and separation. Also, the members disengage using manual force.
