A security apparatus for a portable electronic device includes a force-transmission member having a length, a first end, and a second end. A lock head is coupled to the first end of the force-transmission member, the lock head configured to selectively engage the electronic device and movable by the force-transmission member between a locked position, in which the lock head is secured to the electronic device, and an unlocked position, in which the lock head is unsecured from the electronic device. An actuator assembly is spaced a distance from the lock head along the length of the force-transmission member. The actuator assembly includes a body and a manual actuator pivotally coupled to the body, the manual actuator being pivotable from a first position to a second position to move the movable member relative to the body such that the lock head moves from the unlocked position to the locked position.

A security apparatus for a portable electronic device includes a cable having a length, a first end, and a second end. The security apparatus also includes a lock head coupled to the first end of the cable. The lock head is configured to selectively engage the portable electronic device and is movable by the cable between a first position, in which the lock head is secured to the portable electronic device, and a second position, in which the lock head is unsecured from the portable electronic device. The security apparatus further includes an actuator assembly coupled to the second end of the cable and spaced a distance from the lock head along the length of the cable. A carabiner includes a body having a first arm extending from the body and a second arm extending from the body, a first gate pivotally coupled to the body adjacent the first arm for movement relative to the first arm, and a second gate pivotally coupled to the body adjacent the second arm for movement relative to the second arm. The carabiner also includes a blocking member supported by the body. The blocking member is movable between a first position, in which the first and the second gates are movable relative to the first and second arms, a second position, in which the first gate is inhibited from moving relative to the first arm and the second gate is movable relative to the second arm, and a third position, in which the first and the second gates are inhibited from moving relative to the first and second arms.
