The present application is directed to systems and methods for associating a geographic location with an IP address. Generally, an IP address from which each of a plurality of users accesses a network is recorded. A geo tag is associated with each of the plurality of users and a subset of the plurality of users is identified, the subset including users associated with a first IP address. The subset of the plurality of users is clustered into a spatial cluster including users associated with geo tags located with a defined distance of a geo tag of at least one other user of the cluster. A geographic location associated with a geographic center of the cluster is then associated with the first IP address.

The present application is directed to systems and methods for associating a geographic location with an IP address. Generally, an IP address associated with each of a plurality of browser cookies is determined, where each of the plurality of browser cookies indicate a geographic location such as a home address or business address of a user. A geo tag is associated with each of the plurality of browser cookies and a subset of the plurality of browser cookies including browser cookies associated with a first IP address is identified. The subset of the plurality of browser cookies is clustered into a spatial cluster including browser cookies associated with geo tags located within a defined distance of a geo tag of at least one other browser cookie of the cluster. A geographic location associated with a geographic center of the cluster is then associated with the first IP address.

A system is disclosed for customizing a geographic location index based on user preferences. The system obtains geographic data provided by a user and generates a customized geographic region based on the obtained geographic data. The system generates relationship data corresponding to the new customized geographic region. The system updates the geographic location index based on the new customized geographic region and corresponding relationship data. Thereafter, on-line content may be delivered to an audience associated with the new customized geographic region, thereby allowing the user, such as an advertiser or publisher, to define targeting regions that are optimal to their specific business environment.

The present application is directed to systems and methods for associating a geographic location with an IP address. Generally, a plurality of localized search queries of search queries received at an Internet search engine are determined, where each of the plurality of localized search queries is associated with a location. A geo tag is associated with each of the plurality of localized search queries and a subset of the plurality of localized search queries that are associated with a first IP address is identified. The subset of the plurality of localized search queries is clustered into a spatial cluster including localized search queries associated with geo tags located within a defined distance of a geo tag associated with at least one other localized search query of the cluster. A system is disclosed for expanding a user query based on user learned popularity rankings. User queries often have no exact match, resulting in a user having to refine or abandon the search. The disclosed system obtains popularity rankings based on the content of a user query. The system expands the user query based on the popularity rankings. Thereafter, query results based on the expanded user query may be provided to the user. The system also regularly learns from user behavior and adapts the popularity rankings according to the learned information.

The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for identifying advertisements responsive to one or more historical queries generated by a given user. The method of the present invention comprises annotating a profile for a user with information associated with one or more historical queries generated by the user. The profile associated with the user is retrieved, the profile indicating one or more historical queries previously generated by the user. One or more advertisements are identified as responsive to a selected historical query maintained in the profile of the user. The one or more advertisements previously displayed to the user in response to the selected historical query are identified. The one or more advertisements identified as not previously displayed to the user are thereafter displayed.
