Reel-to-reel manufacturing methods and systems are disclosed herein. In general, one or more plastic parts (e.g., plastic substrate) can be transported on a carrier for manufacturing of a final product based initially on the part or substrate. A reel-to-reel mechanism is provided comprising one or more reels associated with the carrier, such that the part can be spooled and unspoiled upon the one or more of the reels prior and subsequent to a performance of a manufacturing operation upon the part for the purpose of creating an electronic circuit. A plurality of manufacturing operations can then be subsequently upon the part utilizing the reel-to-reel mechanism to create a final electronic system based upon the part initially subject to the manufacturing operations.

Plastic lead frames utilizing reel-to-reel processing

Methods and systems are disclosed for detecting mass transfer in a rotating device or rotating system, such as a washing machine or dishwasher. Mass may be transferred from the stationary member to the rotating member. The transfer of the mass from the stationary member to the rotating member may be detected utilizing a sensor. A controller linked to the rotating system thereafter may receive a signal that the transfer of mass has been detected, in response to detecting the transfer of mass, thereby permitting the controller to compensate future mass placements in the rotating system according to measured latencies. The mass may comprise a fluid. The fluid itself may be conductive. A gap is generally configured between the stationary member and the rotating member. At least one wire connected to the sensor may be inserted into a stream of such fluid that is created when injectors are activated. An electrical circuit may be completed when the stream of fluid travels across the gap to at least one other wire connected to the sensor and through sensor circuitry associated with the sensor.

Method and system for detecting fluid injection from stationary to rotating members

A flow-through visible-light turbidity sensor is constructed from a molded plastic flow tube with an overmolded opaque housing to shield the optical sensing apparatus from ambient light. The housing also secures and covers all electronics for the sensor. The molded parts provide lower cost and less dimensional variation for the sensor as well as the ability to locate conductivity or other physical probe sensor types within the package.

A safety restraint sensor system for detecting a latched position and/or an unlatched position of a latch and a buckle. The latch is movably mounted with respect to a housing. A vane projects from the latch. A magnet and a Hall element are mounted with respect to the housing. When the buckle engages the latch, the vane and the buckle move within the magnetic field of the magnet. A magnetic field is distributed through the Hall element by way of the buckle and the vane. The Hall element sends a signal indicating the latched position to an appropriate receptor, such as a safety restraint.

Safety restraint sensor system

An accelerometer is provided in which a magnet structure is encapsulated within a distal end of a cantilever beam that is formed as an integral part of a housing structure. The cantilever beam, the distal end and the housing structure are formed of a nonmagnetic material, such as plastic, during a single injection molding procedure. The magnetic structure within the distal end of the cantilever beam can comprise two magnets associated with a pole piece and disposed within an opening formed in a nonmagnetic bracket. Although many types of magnet structures are possible within the scope of the present invention, a particularly preferred magnet structure comprises two magnets that are arranged in opposite polarity with the opposite poles of the two magnets being located adjacent to each other on opposite sides of a centerline. The magnet structure can be held in place during the injection molding process by the magnetic attraction between the magnet structure and a ferromagnetic portion of the mold. The magnetically sensitive component, which is held in place within a wall of the housing structure, can be a Hall effect element.
