A process for dry cleaning fabrics comprising the steps of: (i) placing one or more fabrics to be cleaned in a device which provides heat and agitation; (ii) placing one or more carrier sheets in the device wherein the carrier sheets have about 200 grams of a liquid cleaning/refreshment composition releasably absorbed therein; (iii) heating the air within the device to at least about 130&#xb0; F. (55&#xb0; C.); and (iv) agitating the fabrics and the carrier sheets until at least about 40% by weight of the liquid cleaning/refreshment composition from the carrier sheets has been evaporated and vented from the device. There is further provided a kit for dry cleaning fabrics comprising: one or more carrier sheets; and from about 200 grams to about 1,000 grams of a liquid cleaning/refreshment composition, wherein the one or more carrier sheets can absorb at least about 200 grams of the liquid cleaning/refreshment composition.

Bagless dry cleaning kits and processes for dry cleaning

A conditioning composition for garments to be used before or after conventional washing and drying operations is disclosed. The compositions are suitable for conditioning dry clean only garments. The composition is an aqueous mixture containing a garment conditioning agent wherein the mixture has a fluid viscosity of from about 1 cps to about 100 cps and a fluid surface tension of from about 20 dynes/cm to about 55 dynes/cm. The conditioning composition is in fog form to improve composition deposition on the garments.

The present invention encompasses an article for treating fabrics, comprising a) an absorbent carrier substrate; and b) a liquid cleaning/refreshment composition releasably absorbed in said substrate; said substrate being wholly or partly covered by; c) a fibrous coversheet which is permeable to said cleaning/refreshment composition in the liquid and/or vapor state, said coversheet having a minimum thickness of about 7 mil (0.18 mm). The coversheet helps reduce water spotting on the fabrics being treated and picks up lint and solid soils. The article is useful in an in-home process which is conducted in a clothes dryer.

A process for dry cleaning fabrics comprising the steps of: (i) placing one or more fabrics to be cleaned in a device which provides heat and agitation; (ii) placing one or more carrier sheets in the device wherein the carrier sheets have 200 grams of a liquid cleaning/refreshment composition releasably absorbed therein; (iii) heating the air within the device to at least 130&deg; F. (55&deg; C.); and (iv) agitating the fabrics and the carrier sheets until at least 40% by weight of the liquid cleaning/refreshment composition from the carrier sheets has been evaporated and vented from the device. There is further provided a kit for dry cleaning fabrics comprising: one or more carrier sheets, and from 200 grams to 1,000 grams of a liquid cleaning/refreshment composition, wherein the one or more carrier sheets can absorb at least 200 grams of the liquid cleaning/refreshment compositions.

A cleaning device for spot-cleaning fabrics without causing fiber damage is provided. A hand-held device with a convex face comprises treatment means, such as fibers. In use, the stained fabric is moistened with a cleaning composition and the device is rolled or rocked on the stained area. The fibers mechanically dislodge the stain. The device is especially useful as a pre-spotter in a dry cleaning operation.

Stain removal device

A process for preparing detergent agglomerates is disclosed. The process includes the steps of (a) preparing a mixture of detergent components in a mixer, and (b) agglomerating the mixture from step (a) in a moderate speed mixer to produce detergent agglomerates. The detergent components include (1) from about 20% to about 35% of a surfactant compound selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants and acid precursors of anionic surfactants; (2) from about 0% to about 65% of a particulate phosphate builder selected from the group consisting of polyphosphate, pyrophosphate, and mixtures thereof; (3) from about 6% to about 60% of a particulate carbonate selected from the group consisting of sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, and mixtures thereof. Further, when an acid precursor of anionic surfactant is used in (1), the amount of carbonate is at least 2 times that which is sufficient to neutralize the surfactant acid, and at least 40% of the total amount of components (2) and (3) meets a particle size specification of 97% of particles less than 50 microns and median particle size of 5 to 20 microns.

Process for manufacture of high density detergent granules

Stained areas (,) of fabric are separately treated with a non-aqueous cleaning composition, followed by an aqueous cleaning composition, and by using a hand-held device (,) which is rocked back and forth on said stained areas (,). The fabric (,) is then placed in a bag or other container, together with a sheet substrate releasably containing an aqueous cleaning composition. The bag is tumbled in a hot air clothes dryer to clean and refresh the entire fabric (,).

Dual-step stain removal process

A cleaning composition is releasably contained in a controlled-release pad or sheet, preferably enveloped within an apertured, formed-film cover sheet to provide a spot removal article. The article is pressed against localized stained areas on fabric surfaces to release the cleaning composition in a controlled manner. The article and fabric are then placed in a bag and agitated in a hot air clothes dryer to dry clean the entire fabric.

The present invention encompasses, in a process which comprises the steps of laundering or otherwise moistening fabrics using an aqueous medium, thereby securing damp fabrics and, thereafter, subjecting said damp fabrics to a drying process in a mechanical apparatus, the improvement which comprises: conducting said drying process by placing said damp fabrics in a vapor venting containment bag and drying said fabrics, thereafter removing said fabrics from said bag, whereby fabric shrinkage and wrinkling are minimized. The process herein is especially useful when the fabrics are cotton.

A passageway resistant to capillary transport and which is defined by a circumscribing wall made of heat sealable plastic sheets which are joined along longitudinally extending fin-type heat seals. The joints each have a fillet section which is in intimate contact with the wall along portions contiguous the heat seals and which fills the capillary channels therebetween. The fillets are made of a material which will not be displaced by a liquid which contacts the passageway in use.

Aqueous hypochlorite-containing cleansing compositions for use on porcelain enamel surfaces wherein said compositions contain a sufficient amount of water-soluble fluoride salt and a clay with cation exchange capacity to inhibit discoloration of the surface by the hypochlorite.
