In an example, an apparatus is described that a fluid ejection device to dispense fluid. A local service controller controls dispensing of the fluid by the fluid ejection device under a direction of a fluid ejection controller. The local service controller also initiates, autonomously of the fluid ejection controller, capping of the fluid ejection device in response to the detection of a failure condition by the local service controller. Capping mechanics are provided to cap the fluid ejection device under the direction of the local service controller.

A printing device may include a processor to receive data describing a plurality of independent print streams comprising an image; for each of the plurality of independent print streams, emulate a first frame-less press using gapless frames on a first side of a medium upon execution of a framing module wherein each of the images of the independent print streams comprise an emulated spitgap; for each of the plurality of independent print streams, emulating a second frame-less press using gapless frames on a second side of the medium with the framing module, wherein an emulated spitgap associated with each of the images of the second side of the medium is to be geometrically adjusted to match a position on the medium of an image on the first side of the medium.

A printing system includes an identification module to identify a number of the encoder pulses generated by an encoder at a rate corresponding to a speed of a media during a time interval. The printing system also includes an alignment module to at least one of change the number of encoder pulses or scale the encoder pulses generated by the encoder based on an amount of variation between the number of encoder pulses detected and the number of encoder pulses to maintain the number of encoder pulses constant.

An example method for operating a printing system in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure includes receiving, at a printing unit, a print job, receiving, at the printing unit, a trigger generated by a finishing unit, and initiating the print job based on the generated trigger.

According to an example, printing on a media web may include outputting a first instruction to print a first frame on the media web. A first encoder count of an encoder may be determined between a first alignment mark and an end of frame for the first frame. Additionally, a second encoder count of the encoder may be determined between the first alignment mark for the first frame and a second alignment mark for a second frame. A difference value may then be calculated between the first encoder count and the second encoder count. Based on the difference value, a scaling factor of the encoder may be determined. Accordingly, another instruction may be output to print another frame on the media web based on the scaling factor.

An image forming system includes a substrate transport unit, an image forming module, an event sensing module, a heartbeat generation module, a signal detection module, and a repositioning module. The substrate transport unit may transport substrate including at least one splice along a transport path. The image forming module may form an image on the substrate. The event sensing module may detect an event and provide an event signal along a signal path in response to the event. The heartbeat generation module may provide a heartbeat signal different than the event signal along the signal path. The signal detection module may determine a presence of the event signal and an absence of the heartbeat signal. The repositioning module may move the image forming module from a first position to a second position in response to a determination of the presence of the event signal.

A system comprising a media player configured to play media content, a projector operatively coupled to the media player, and a control unit operatively coupled to the media player and the projector is provided. The control unit is configured to detect an on-screen display condition associated with the media player, and the control unit is configured to prevent first information associated with the on-screen display condition and provided by the media player from being displayed by the projector in response to detecting the on-screen display condition.

A method of calibrating a projection system is disclosed. The method includes determining a location of at least one hotspot on a screen within the projection system, initiating a calibration sequence of the projection system and ignoring the at least one hotspot during the calibration sequence of the projection system.

A system for defining a bounding box include one or more image projectors; one or more optical beam generators; a display surface; a computing element; and a digital image sensor. The digital image sensor is configured to sense a location of image orientation indicators generated by the optical beam generators. The computing element is configured to communicate with the digital image sensor to determine a bounding box defined by the locations of the image orientation indicators and to control the one or more image projectors to project an image in, and corresponding to, the bounding box on the display surface.

In a calculating device, a method to allow a user to enter fractions in the form 'b/c', where 'b' and 'c' are integers; 'b/c' is a fraction; and the denominator 'c' is within a prespecified range. The method to enter real number fractions includes activating one or more digit keys and the successive pressing of a primary function key to distinguish the previously entered numerator value from a subsequently entered denominator value.

Double keystroke fraction entry and interface method

A calculator receives fraction values directly, without requiring the user to perform mathematic operations, by use of a primary key to separate digits of the whole number, numerator and denominator. The calculator also displays fractions with a user specified denominator allowing convenient application to user needs. By reducing mental effort in entering numeric values and interpreting results of calculations, the calculator is better adapted to suit a particular user's needs.
