A latent image printing process by applying to a substrate a latent image ink composition containing zinc bromide with an ink jet printer. Subsequently, the latent image is activated to render it visible, by application of an activator.

Latent image jet inks

A jet ink composition for use with textiles which comprises a pigment dispersed with an ethyl cellulose resin, a silicone resin, a phenolic resin, and at least one non-aqueous solvent in which the pigment dispersion, silicone resin, and phenolic resin are dissolved. The printed images formed therefrom are readable even when applied to darkly-dyed textiles.

Textile jet ink

An ink composition suitable for ink jet printing operations comprising an aqueous resin dispersion and an aqueous colorant where said ink composition is substantially free of volatile organic compounds. Compositions are provided that form printed images that, without curing, are solvent-washable with isopropanol, ethanol, water, and mixtures thereof, and are retortable, without curing. Ink jet compositions capable of forming colored images capable of being washed with isopropanol, ethanol, water, and mixtures thereof, after curing, are also provided. Finally, ink jet inks capable of withstanding washing with strong organic solvents, such as methylethylketone and methanol, after curing, are also provided.

Ink jet composition and method

The present invention provides jet ink compositions suitable for producing security markings on documents and other articles for subsequent identification. The jet ink composition comprises a fluorescent colorant, an ink carrier, and optionally one or more binder resins. The markings are invisible to the unaided eye and are visible only when excited by ultraviolet light. The colorant comprises a rare earth metal and a chelating ligand, is excitable by ultraviolet light having a wavelength of from about 275 nm to about 400 nm, and fluoresces at a wavelength of from about 550 nm to about 700 nm, with the proviso that when the rare earth metal is europium, dysprosium, or terbium, the chelating ligand is not dibenzoylmethane. The present invention further provides a method of identifying objects comprising providing a security marking as described above, exciting the marking and reading the fluorescent emission. The present invention also provides a system for identification of objects bearing the security markings.

Invisible fluorescent jet ink

The present invention provides an ink composition for use in printing on food items, especially fruits and vegetables, and a method of forming printed images on food items by use of such compositions. The compositions of the present invention comprise citrus #2 dye, at least one binder, such as a rosin resin or cellulose derivative, and a carrier comprising ethanol and acetone. The composition is also characterized as being MEK-free, as well as water-free.

Citrus marking jet ink

A jet ink composition for use with textiles which comprises a pigment dispersed with an acrylic resin, a silicone resin, and at least one non-aqueous solvent. The printed images formed therefrom resist subsequent dying and remain readable even after being subjected to dark-colored dyes.

Ink jet composition for printing on textiles

A latent image printing process comprising applying to a substrate a latent image ink composition, with an ink jet printer. Subsequently, the latent image is activated to render it visible, by application of an activator. The present invention also provides a latent ink composition for use in ink jet applications, which is capable of being applied to a white or light colored substrate to form latent printed images that are substantially invisible until activated.

Security jet ink

An ink composition suitable for drop-on-demand ink jet printing on porous substrates comprising water, a colorant, a non-teratogenic and non-carcinogenic humectant, and a solid penetrant, which ink composition has a volatile organic content of less than 300 grams per liter.

Drop-on-demand ink composition with environmental advantages

An ink composition suitable for ink jet printing operations comprising an aqueous resin solution and an organic pigment where said ink composition is substantially free of volatile organic compounds. Compositions are provided that form printed images that are solvent resistant to with isopropanol, ethanol, water, and mixtures thereof, and are retortable.

Pigmented, low volatile organic compound, ink jet composition and method

A UV curable, etch-resistant ink composition for ink jet printing of variable information on printed circuit boards and for printing the circuit boards themselves comprising a resin formulation having at least two acrylate components, one of which is an acrylate having a pendant carboxyl group and one of which is an acrylated epoxy monomer or dimer, a photoinitiator and an organic carrier. Also, methods for printing variable information on printed circuit boards and for printing the circuit boards themselves utilizing a UV curable, etch-resistant ink composition.

Etch-resistant jet ink and process

An improved ink composition suitable for ink jet printing, wherein the improvement comprises the addition of a sufficient quantity of a secondary amine selected from the group consisting of diethyl amine, dipropyl amine, diisopropyl amine, and dibutyl amine to inhibit corrosion of metal placed in contact with said ink composition, without adversely affecting the printing characteristics of said ink. Also a method for reducing the corrosiveness of an ink composition suitable for ink jet printing, wherein the ink composition is normally corrosive to metal, comprising adding to said ink composition a sufficient quantity of such a secondary amine.

Corrosion inhibitor for jet inks

The thermochromic jet ink compositions of the present invention undergo color changes in response to changes in thermal environment. Additionally, the inks comprise a combination of solvent, dyes and other essential ingredients which make them suitable for ink jet printing, or printing which is effected without contact between the printing device and the substrate on which the printed characters are deposited. The present invention provides thermochromic ink compositions with enhanced thermal specificity. Moreover, these inks are capable of indicating that the substrate has been exposed to such a specific thermal environment for at least a specified minimal period of time. The color change so effected is irreversible and does not require steam or moisture to leach out selected components of the composition thereby providing a more rapid and distinct color change. The most notable use of the present invention is to indicate completion of pasteurization or sterilization of the substrate or its contents.
