An improved joint implant apparatus, system, and method. The system includes an implant having a bone-facing articular surface configured to replace at least part of a natural articular surface of a bone adjacent to a joint. The system also includes a transosseous coupler and a bone anchor configured to reside proximate another surface of the bone, separated from the natural articular surface by a bone tunnel. The bone anchor is configured to couple the transosseous coupler to the bone such that the transosseous coupler retains the implant in place on the natural articular surface of the bone.

Joint implant apparatus, system, and method

A compression staple system for bone fixation may include a compression staple configured to span first and second bone portions. The staple may apply compression between the first and second bone portions. An inserter may be configured to releasably engage the staple. The inserter may include a stationary jaw including a first retention mechanism and a moveable jaw including a second retention mechanism. The moveable jaw may be moveable between a closed configuration wherein the stationary jaw may be spaced apart from the moveable jaw a first distance, and an open configuration wherein the stationary jaw may be spaced apart from the moveable jaw a second distance greater than the first. The staple may be captive within the inserter in the closed configuration. The staple may be releasable from the inserter in the open configuration, and the stationary and moveable jaws may remain parallel between the close and open configurations.

A bone implant, system, and method for retaining a bone fragment. The implant includes at least one hook that includes a base extending proximal to a proximal end of the implant, a bend, and a prong that extends from the bend. The prong slidably engages a guide feature that guides the at least one hook into a corresponding opening in the bone fragment.

The present invention relates to an implant system that comprises an implant, a handle configured to removably receive the implant, and, in some embodiments, a spacer tool configured to be mounted on the implant. In further embodiments, a k-wire is employed to guide the implant to a desired location. The handle has a hole for receiving a first portion of the implant. Using the handle to implant the implant, along with an associated spacer, provides a quick and convenient method for implanting the implant as described herein and in the associated drawings.

Systems and methods for implanting surgical implants

An arthrodesis anchor as a monolithic piece has prongs supporting barbs extending radially therefrom. A neck between the ends may be angled to accommodate final alignment of resected surfaces of joints to be bonded. The neck may receive a tool for buttressing a first inserted end against further penetration into a joint while the second inserted end is inserted into the other adjacent joint. The proximal and intermediate phalangeal joints may be trimmed and pilot drilled, and may be broached with or without a k-wire guide. A first end may be inserted by a tool, typically into the proximal joint, but the order may be reversed. The second end may then be inserted into a pilot in the base of the intermediate joint.
