The disclosed technology teaches alerting a network operator to deteriorated wireless network conditions with granularity and reduced false alerts, including receiving tracked performance indicators (KPIs) for multiple components of voice, data and messaging and accessing a mapping for combining the performance indicators into quality sub-indicators for individual users and into key quality indicators (KQI) for the individual users. This includes smoothing the current KQI measures of performance over time to reduce the impact of brief transitory events, accessing a weekly profile of KQIs, and comparing KQIs for a current time window to past KQIs for a corresponding time window for the individual users operating mobile devices in part of the cellular network that is a focus of interest. Based on the comparing, the disclosed technology includes generating alerts that report out-of-range current KQIs within the focus of interest that are persistently out-of-range for longer than a configurable time.

Predicting subscriber experience based on QoE

A Quality of Service (QoS) provision for voice and other delay sensitive call connections established over the Internet and other packet-based networks is achieved by generating a QoS performance parameter value corresponding to the performance of one or more packet-based call connections utilizing common packet network resources, comparing the QoS performance parameter value to an acceptable range of QoS values, and terminating one or more call connections utilizing common packet network resources if the QoS performance parameter value does not fall within the acceptable range of QoS values.

Quality of service management for voice over packet networks

Enhanced operation is attained for packet networks with a performance management operations system (PMOS) that receives information from network elements concerning loads carries and lost packets, receives threshold and other parameter information for a network management console, performs various calculations on the received information, and develops recommendations for setting of adjustable network elements controls that affect the quality of service that those elements provide. For those network elements that are capable of receiving operation control signals from the PMOS and that the network management console ceded a measure of control to the PMOS, the developed recommendations are converted to control signals that are directly applied by the PMOS to the network elements to control the network elements' operations.

Packet network performance management

A system identifies calling parties who are unable to successfully complete calls to a called party. Call attempt failure records are retrieved from a local exchange carrier that services the calling parties, from a local exchange carrier that services the called party, and from an interexchange carrier that carries calls between the two local exchanges. Call completion records are retrieved from the local exchange carrier serving the called party. The failure records are compared to the completion records to determine which calling parties experienced one or more failed call attempt to the called party, and of these calling parties, which parties also failed to complete subsequent call attempts to the called party. The system also reports the intensity of calls made by these parties to the called party over a specified time period.
