The disclosed invention provides a transseptal insertion device which is suitable for facilitating precise and safe transseptal puncture of a cardiac interatrial septum. The transseptal insertion device includes a sheath that defines at least one lumen therein, one or more positioning balloons that are connected to a distal end of the sheath, a puncture member movably positioned within the at least one lumen, and a puncture member balloon located on the puncture member. The positioning balloons are inflated and deflated through hypotubes, and the puncture member balloon is inflated and deflated through an additional tube. The transseptal insertion device includes a wire member movably positioned in a center lumen formed in the puncture member. The wire member may be Brockenbrough needle, a radiofrequency tip needle, a radiofrequency wire, a pigtail catheter that delivers fluid or pharmaceuticals in the left atrial appendage, or a transseptal wire.

Directional balloon transseptal insertion device for medical procedures with improved transseptal puncture system with puncture member balloon seal

A deflectable multidirectional balloon tipped catheter system for conducting peripheral vascular procedures in a remote entry point such as an opposite extremity or other branch point in the arterial system is provided. The catheter system includes a multidirectional catheter body, which includes a wire lumen and a balloon lumen with a control port for connecting to a balloon control and a balloon inflation port, and a compliant or non-compliant anchor balloon connected near the flexible catheter distal end. A method for treating peripheral vascular disease, administration of pharmaceutical and chemotherapeutic agents to the local vascular system, and therapeutic embolization of vascular territories by using the catheter system is provided.

The disclosed invention provides a transseptal insertion device which is suitable for facilitating precise and safe transseptal puncture of a cardiac interatrial septum. The transseptal insertion device includes a sheath that defines at least one lumen therein, one or more positioning balloons that are connected to a distal end of the sheath, a puncture member movably positioned within the at least one lumen, and a puncture member balloon located on the puncture member. The sheath has one or more deflation ports to deflate the one or more positioning balloons. The puncture member balloon, when inflated, is capable of sealing the one or more deflation ports in the sheath, permitting the inflation of the one or more positioning balloons. When the puncture member moves toward fossa ovalis, the inflated puncture member balloon moves away from the deflation ports, allowing the positioning balloons to be deflated.

The disclosed invention provides a handle for controlling movements of a transseptal insertion shaft which is suitable for facilitating precise and safe transseptal puncture of a cardiac interatrial septum, and a transseptal puncture system that include a transseptal insertion shaft and a handle to control movements of the transseptal insertion shaft. The handle includes two twister thread half shells, a nut inner and nut outer placed inside the two twister thread half shells, a first pull wire connected to a first side of the transseptal insertion shaft and coupled to the nut inner, a second pull wire connected to a second side of the transseptal insertion shaft and coupled to the nut outer. The nut inner and nut outer rotate in opposite directions to each other when the two twister thread half shells are turned in a direction.

Directional balloon transseptal insertion device for medical procedures with improved handle

A transseptal insertion device is provided including device housing, a pusher slidably disposed in the device housing and a guide element extending from the pusher. The device housing is configured to be inserted into the right atrium of a patient's heart and the guide element can then be advanced from the device housing and against the cardiac septum to facilitate stable puncturing of the cardiac septum by a needle carried by a catheter inserted through the device housing, to provide access to the left atrium. The guide element can be formed as a webbing or ring. The pusher and/or guide element can optionally be inflatable.
