A system facilitating scaling of topics is provided. During operation, the system can suspend a stateful application of a topic and a stateful backup topic on an event-driven platform. The topic corresponds to a stream of events associated with the application. The system can modify configuration at the platform to allow a new set of partitions of the topic and a new set of backup partitions of the backup topic. The system can identify a state of event records from the application in a previous backup partition and identify a new backup partition allocated to the application. If they are different, the system can transfer the state to the new backup partition. The system can resume the application for generating an updated state, which is maintained at the new backup partition, based on the state and subsequent event records associated with the application.

Adaptive scaling of topics in a stateful event-driven platform

Methods and systems are described for assigning the proper internet protocol (IP) address to a client device following authentication of the client device on a network. In particular, at commencement of an authentication procedure of the client device, a role is associated with the client device that denies all DHCP renews/requests. By assigning a role to the client devicewith a 'deny DHCP renew/request' rule at the commencement of an authentication procedure, the systems and methods described herein ensure that a race condition does not allow the client device to renew an IP address in an old segment of the network. Accordingly, the client device may avoid a possibly improper IP address in a segment of the network system in which the client device is no longer associated with or operating on.

According to an example, an application initiating a communication session may be identified via a mapping of the application information with a pattern of interest included in a DNS server response corresponding to the application. Information regarding the communication session may be obtained and a determination may be made as to whether the communication session includes media data. If the communication session includes media data, control of the application and the communication session may be enabled via an interface.

Identification and control of applications and media sessions

Example implementations relate to neighboring network devices. For example, a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions executable by a processing resource can cause a computer to determine a characteristic affecting a subset of a plurality of network devices. The instructions can cause the processing resource to determine that at least two of the subset of the plurality of network devices that are affected by the characteristic are neighbors. The instructions can cause the processing resource to indicate a region to be associated with each network device of the subset based on the determination that at least two of the subset of the plurality of network devices are neighbors.

A network system and the method is described that splits media identification logic and media classification and/or general data session processing/management logic into separate controllers (e.g., between the local controllers and a service controller). By separating media identification logic and media classification logic (or general media processing/management logic), the system and method allows for greater flexibility and scalability in a network system employing a service controller. In particular, by allowing the local controllers to perform media identification and to construct a single packet that characterizes/describes a media session, the system avoids the need to transmit multiple data packets of a media session to the service controller for classification of the session. Accordingly, the system includes the flexibility a service controller provides while allowing for greater scalability by separating media identification logic and media classification respectively between a local controller and the service controller.

Distributed media classification algorithm in a service controller platform for enhanced scalability

Described herein are systems, devices, techniques and products for operating network devices, such as wireless access points, in a network environment. For example, wireless client devices may have resources reserved for their use by a network device if the wireless client device is categorized for such resource reservation, such as if the wireless client device is categorized as more important than other wireless client devices. Such categorization may be indicated by a context associated with the wireless client device, including belonging to or being associated with an important user or being used for an important purpose, such as emergency purposes, prescheduled purposes or involving multiple users. Reservation of wireless resources for wireless client devices may be performed to ensure an important user or device is provided with adequate resources to place a voice or video call, for example.

Distributed media classification algorithm in a service controller platform

Example implementations relate to network deployment of devices. For example, a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions executable by a processing resource can determine a plurality of deployment thresholds of a plurality of devices, wherein the plurality of deployment thresholds are associated with a type of the plurality of devices. The instructions can cause the processing resource to monitor deployment data associated with the plurality of devices to identify a device with a deployment outlier. The device with the deployment outlier is a device with deployment data that is outside a deployment threshold of the device. The instructions can cause the processing resource to adjust the deployment threshold of the device based on the monitoring.

Network deployment

Examples relate to managing network traffic. In one example, a computing device may: receive voice network traffic from each of a plurality of voice clients; enqueue the received voice network traffic into a voice Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) queue; determine a measure of WMM queue utilization based on data queued in the voice WMM queue; determine a measure of radio congestion for a surrounding area; and determine, based on the measure of WMM queue utilization and the measure of radio congestion, to: stop prioritization of newly received voice traffic from new voice clients, or transition at least one of the plurality of voice clients to a neighboring computing device.

System and method for providing context-based anticipatory dynamic resource reservation

The present disclosure discloses a network device and/or method for centralized configuration with dynamic distributed address management. The disclosed network device receives, at a first network node, a range of sub network addresses and a specified size for a sub network. The disclosed network device then divides the range of sub network addresses into a plurality of sub-ranges of sub network addresses based on the specified size. Further, the network device allocates the plurality of sub-ranges of sub network addresses to a plurality of sub networks, and transmits an allocated sub-range of sub network addresses to a corresponding sub network at a second network node through an established secure communication channel. Moreover, the network device can retrieve a profile template that includes the range of sub network addresses and the specified size of the sub network; and create a profile based on the profile template.
