A wireless device is configured to receive scheduling information at a predetermined time interval from a wireless node. The scheduling information includes a plurality of reception definitions. Each reception definition indicates a reception start time, a reception duration, and assigned frequency information. Each reception definition is derived from a wireless device identification associated with the reception definition. The wireless device is configured to receive data associated with at least one of the reception definitions.

Scheduling communications in a wireless network

A wireless device may directly transmit and receive data using carrier sense multiple access and receive an indication of an operating mode of the at least one other wireless device for power saving. The wireless device may transmit a message with scheduling information indicating times that the wireless device is awake, wherein the message includes a duration field and a count field.

A wireless apparatus may receive scheduling definitions from a networking device. The wireless apparatus may determine, from the scheduling definitions, downlink transmission times and to start a timer at one of the determined downlink transmission times. The wireless apparatus may discontinue reception at expiration of the timer. An interface () of the communication device () is operated to enter identifiers identifying respective calling sources () from which call signals may be received. The identifiers are stored in a memory () in association with respective ones of the electrical signals. Accordingly, when a call signal is later received from one of the calling sources, an identifier included in the signal is correlated to a corresponding stored identifier and to a corresponding stored electrical signal, and the audible signal represented by that electrical signal is then generated to indicate the receipt of the call from the calling source.

Method, apparatus and program for providing user-selected alerting signals in telecommunications devices

Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling medium access. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a first message including a first integer and a first sequence number; sending a second message including a second integer and the first sequence number; determining a first encryption key based on the first sequence number; and receiving a third message including a second sequence number and data, the second sequence number identifying a second encryption key capable of decoding the third message.

Systems and methods for medium access control with key agreement

A method for testing a speaker () and microphone () of a communication device () is provided. The method includes playing a first audio signal through the speaker () and determining whether the first audio signal is audible. If the first audio signal is audible, the communication device () receives a second audio signal through its microphone () and plays the second audio signal through the speaker (). If the second audio signal is audible the method determines that the microphone () is properly functioning. Such a method allows the communication device () to be quickly and easily tested.

The disclosed systems and methods provide for the compression and decompression of packet headers. An uncompressed header can be compressed in size to form a smaller, compressed header, such that the compressed header can include values that can be used to re-produce the uncompressed header. A compressed header can include at least two such values. A first value of the at least two values can be computed based on a second, earlier uncompressed header and can be used to derive the uncompressed header. Similarly, a second value of the at least two values can be computed based on a third uncompressed header and can be used to derive the same uncompressed header. Accordingly, the uncompressed header can be derived based on the first value and the second uncompressed header, or based on the second value and the third uncompressed header. The uncompressed header, second uncompressed header, and third uncompressed header can be associated with different packets.

This disclosure relates to network management using visual identifiers. In one of many possible embodiments, a network management system includes a visual identifier device located visibly proximate to a network device. The visual identifier device includes a set of visual identifiers and a selector mechanism configured to be manipulated to select at least one of the visual identifiers to be assigned to the network device. The network management system also includes a display device configured to display a visual representation of said selected visual identifier.

The present invention performs 'flow control' based on the remaining encryption capacity of an encrypted outbound network interface link of a network routing device, such as a router or switch. As the encrypted link begins to run low on encryption key material, this invention begins to discard datagrams queued for transit across that link, in order to signal distant host computers that they should slow down the rate at which they are sending datagrams. The invention, which is particularly useful in cryptographically protected networks that run the TCP/IP protocol stack, allows fine-grained flow control of individual traffic classes because it can determine, for example, how various classes of data traffic (e.g., voice, video, TCP) should be ordered and transmitted through a network. Thus, the invention can be used to implement sophisticated flow control rules so as to give preferential treatment to certain people, departments or computers.

A system stores pedigrees that include details of how and when each of multiple blocks of encryption key material were distributed between two endpoints using quantum cryptographic techniques. The system receives an indication of a possible quantum cryptographic security violation and accesses the stored pedigrees to identify one or more of the multiple blocks of encryption key material that may have been compromised.

A system and method for adding a new network device to an existing network is described. An existing network has at least one master network device that acts as the gatekeeper for adding new network devices to the network. The master network device receives a request from a new network device to join the network. In response, the master network device issues a request to the new network device to perform a specified action. The master network device receives verification from the human user that the specified action has been performed. Upon receiving the verification, the master network device adds the new network device to the network.
