A pressure sensing guidewire includes a distal end and a proximal end. The guidewire includes a tubular member having a distal portion and a proximal portion. The guidewire includes an optical pressure sensor disposed within the distal portion of the tubular member, and a polymer fiber optic cable extending proximally from the optical pressure sensor. The optical pressure sensor is located at a position that is about 3 centimeters or less from the distal end of the pressure sensing guidewire.

Pressure sensing guidewires and methods of use

Pressure sensing guidewires are disclosed. The pressure sensing guidewires may include a tubular member having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion may have a plurality of slots formed therein. The distal portion may have a first wall thickness along a first region and a second wall thickness smaller than the first wall thickness along a second region. A pressure sensor may be disposed within the distal portion of the tubular member and housed within the second region. An anti-thrombogenic coating may be disposed on an inner surface, an outer surface, or both of the second region of the distal portion of the tubular member.

Disclosed herein, among other things, are methods and apparatus related to ablation catheters with wireless temperature sensing. The present subject matter provides an ablation catheter system including an ablation transducer and a wireless temperature sensor. The wireless temperature sensor includes at least one temperature sensing element configured to sense a temperature-dependent parameter, circuitry configured to measure the sensed parameter and compute a temperature, a transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit a signal including at least one of the sensed parameter and the computed temperature, and a power supply. A controller is provided to coordinate timing of ablation therapy and sensing of the wireless temperature sensor, in various embodiments.

Various embodiments concern a guide catheter for delivery of an implantable lead within the coronary vein. Such a guide catheter can comprise a tubular body having a main lumen and at least one preformed bend. The tubular body can comprise a liner defining an inner surface, braiding circumferentially surrounding the liner, a jacket covering the braiding and defining an exterior surface of the tubular body, and a plurality of inflation tubes embedded within the jacket. The guide catheter can include a balloon mounted on the tubular body, each of the plurality of inflation tubes in communication with the balloon. The guide catheter can further include a hub providing access to the main lumen, the hub comprising a first port for introduction of contrast media into the main lumen and a second port in communication with the plurality of inflation tubes.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same. An example medical device may include a metallic tubular member including a tube wall defining an inner diameter and having a wall thickness. The tubular member may have a plurality of slots formed therein. The tubular member may also include first portion having a first length. The tube wall may have a substantially constant wall thickness across the first length. The tubular member may also include a second portion having a second length. The tube wall may thin so that the inner diameter increases across the second length.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same. An example medical device may include an elongate core member having a proximal portion and a distal portion. A polymer jacket may be disposed about at least a portion of the core member. The jacket may include an outer surface. A lubricious coating may be disposed on the outer surface of the jacket. A coil may be disposed about at least a portion of the jacket. The coil may have an outer surface and may include a first section and a second section. At least a portion of the outer surface of the coil along the first section may be flush with or recessed below the outer surface of the polymer jacket. At least a portion of the outer surface of the coil along the second section may protrude from the outer surface of the polymer jacket, may be free of the coating, and may define a region of decreased lubricity.

A guidewire with an improved distal end may include a core wire, a solder tip disposed at a distal end of the core wire, a radiopaque inner coil coupled to the distal end of the core wire, an outer coil disposed along the length of the core wire, and a distal hub coupled to the core wire and disposed proximate a distal end of the inner coil.
