Methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and arthroscopic video analysis apparatuses and systems that facilitate improved analysis of videos of arthroscopic procedures are disclosed. With this technology, analytical data related to the video feed of an arthroscopic surgery can be obtained using machine learning models and associated with the video feed. The generated videos can be output in real-time to provide contextual information related to the surgical procedure, or can be saved for playback for training or informational purposes.

Methods for arthroscopic video analysis and devices therefor

Surgical methods and devices that facilitate registration of arthroscopic video to preoperative models are disclosed. With this technology, a machine learning model is applied to diagnostic video data captured via an arthroscope to identify an anatomical structure. An anatomical structure in a three-dimensional (3D) anatomical model is registered to the anatomical structure represented in the diagnostic video data. The 3D anatomical model is generated from preoperative image data. The anatomical structure is then tracked intraoperatively based on the registration and without requiring fixation of fiducial markers to the patient anatomy. A simulated projected view of the registered anatomical structure is generated from the 3D anatomical model based on a determined orientation of the arthroscope during capture of intraoperative video data. The simulated projected view is scaled and oriented based on one or more landmark features of the anatomical structure extracted from the intraoperative video data.

The system comprises an arthroscopic imaging device, a display device, an input device, a processor, and a non-transitory, computer-readable medium. The arthroscopic imaging device is configured to capture one or more images of a patient anatomy within a joint of a patient. The input device is configured to receive input from a user. The processor is configured to receive the images from the arthroscopic imaging device and display a user interface on the display device that includes the images from the arthroscopic imaging device. The processor is also configured to receive the input from the input device, display one or more visual overlays over the one or more images based on the input, and apply one or more digital markers in a fixed location on the one or more images based on the input.

The generated videos can be output in real time to provide segmented information related to the surgical procedure or can be saved with the one or more segments tagged for playback for training or informational purposes.

A method of establishing access to a hip joint is disclosed. Pre-operative images of the hip joint are processed to produce a first three-dimensional model (pelvis) and a second three-dimensional model (femur). Data from the first probe and data from the second probe are collected and processed to produce a third three-dimensional model (pelvis) and a fourth three-dimensional model (femur), respectively. The first and third three-dimensional models are aligned to produce a first aligned model (pelvis), and the second and fourth three-dimensional models are aligned to produce a second aligned model (femur). A target location is determined between the first and second aligned models, and an entry vector cone is determined from the target location. A navigated guide wire is inserted along the entry vector cone to the target location.
