A multi-fuel injection system and method for generating combustion signals and metering signals for fuel injectors are provided. A first fuel and a second fuel may be received. A combustion signal may be generated to cause a fuel injector to perform fuel injection to inject at least one of the first fuel or the second fuel into a cylinder of an engine. A metering signal may be generated to cause the fuel injector to perform fuel metering to introduce the second fuel into a nozzle of the fuel injector while the fuel injector is not injecting either of the first fuel or the second fuel into the cylinder of the engine.

A control system is provided to a reductant dosing system for actively maintaining the reductant dosing system ready for use by flushing unused reductant that has crystallized at a return valve of the reductant dosing system. The control system includes a controller that can control a manner of operation of specific system hardware that is present in the reductant dosing system to flush the unused reductant from the return valve that could otherwise cause the return valve to remain a flow-blocking condition as a result of the crystallized reductant.

Control system for a reductant dosing system

A method of determining and regulating a mass flow rate exhaust gases recirculated into an engine is disclosed. The method may comprise directing the exhaust gases through a venturi and sensing a differential exhaust pressure across the venturi. The method may further include sensing an absolute exhaust pressure at the venturi, and sensing a temperature of the exhaust gases. The method may further include determining the mass flow rate of the exhaust based on the sensed differential fluid pressure, absolute fluid pressure, and temperature.

Onboard method of determining EGR flow rate

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system may include an EGR flowpath configured to route a portion of exhaust gases produced by an engine back to an air intake of the engine. The system may include an EGR valve configured to regulate the flow of exhaust gases through the EGR flowpath. In addition, the system may include a flow detection device configured to determine the flowrate of exhaust gases through the EGR flowpath. The system may further include a controller configured to control the EGR valve. In some embodiments, the controller may be configured to control the EGR valve using open-loop control when the flow detection device determines that the EGR flowrate is below a predetermined flowrate and using closed-loop control when the detection device determines that the EGR flowrate is at or above the predetermined flowrate.
