A hybrid light tower includes an engine, a generator configured to be driven by the engine, a battery pack, a mast, and a light assembly including a plurality of light emitting diodes. The generator is configured to produce a first DC power. The battery pack is directly electrically coupled to the generator to receive the first DC power from the generator to charge the battery pack. The light assembly is coupled to the mast and the light emitting diodes electrically coupled to the battery pack to receive a second DC power from the battery pack.

A method for recalibrating an engine includes querying an engine for a unique engine identifier, sending the unique engine identifier to a cloud-based server, determining one or more engine calibration settings available to the engine based on the unique engine identifier sent to the cloud-based server, presenting the one or more engine calibration settings to a user through a user interface so that the user may select a desired engine calibration setting, sending the desired engine calibration setting as selected by the user to an electronic control unit of the engine, and replacing a current engine calibration with the desired engine calibration setting in the electronic control unit of the engine.

A light tower includes a base, an extendible mast coupled to the base, a battery pack supported on the base and including a plurality of lithium-ion battery cells, a light assembly including a plurality of light emitting diodes electrically coupled to the battery pack, a display configured to receive inputs and display information, and a controller in communication with the battery pack, the light assembly, and the display. The configured being to: receive a light intensity change input from the display, change a power provided by the battery pack to the light emitting diodes in response to the light intensity change input, and display on the display a change in runtime resulting from the change of the power provided by the battery pack to the light emitting diodes.

A hybrid light tower includes an engine, a permanent magnet generator configured to be driven by the engine, a battery pack including a plurality of lithium-ion battery cells, an extendible mast configured to move between a lowered position and a raised position, and a light assembly including a plurality of light emitting diodes. The generator is configured to produce a first DC power. The battery pack is directly electrically coupled to the generator to receive the first DC power from the generator to charge the battery pack. The light assembly is coupled to the mast and the light emitting diodes electrically coupled to the battery pack to receive a second DC power from the battery pack. The light tower does not include a battery charger connected to the battery pack.

The invention provides to a cooling system and a method of cooling an engine-driven generator. The engine-driven generator includes an engine, a current generator, and a housing. The engine includes an engine air intake, and the current generator includes a generator air intake. The housing includes a first outlet, a second outlet, a first air passageway, and a second air passageway. The first air passageway is in communication with the second air passageway. The second air passageway partitions air into a first stream supplied to the engine air intake and a second stream supplied to the generator air intake. The first stream exits through the first outlet, and the second stream exits through the second outlet.

Generator cooling system and method

An engine housing for a vertical crankshaft engine may be directly mounted to a standard generator, pump, or other device without modifying the device housing. The engine housing has a plurality of raised mounting bosses that are used to attach the device housing to the engine housing. If the engine housing has an oil slinger well, the raised mounting bosses extend from the engine housing surface a sufficient distance to provide clearance for the oil slinger well. The engine housing also has a pilot that either receives an adapter ring or a portion of a device pilot to maintain the concentricity between the engine crankshaft and the device shaft, as well as the proper alignment between the engine housing and the device housing.

The idling system reduces the speed of an engine having a speed governor that is used to power an air compressor, a pressure washer, or another load device which outputs pressurized gases or fluids. The idling system includes a pressure or flow switch which is activated in response to a sensed pressure or fluid flow respectively in the load device. When the switch is activated, an electromagnet is energized through a diode rectifier by the engine alternator or other power source. The energizing of the electromagnet creates a magnetic field that attracts a governor lever arm on the engine's mechanical speed governor. Since the lever arm is interconnected with the throttle plate of the engine carburetor, movement of the lever arm rotates the throttle plate to reduce the engine speed to an idle speed.
