Example medical devices and methods of making example medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device includes a frame configured to be secured to cardiac tissue, wherein the frame includes a fatigue resistant nickel-titanium alloy that is heat set at a temp in the range of 450-550 degrees Celsius.

Medical devices having increased fatigue resistance

A direct visualization catheter includes an elongate shaft defining a lumen and having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion and a transparent balloon attached to the distal end portion of the shaft. The balloon includes a first layer comprising a thermoset polymer and a plurality of polymeric fibers at least partially embedded in the thermoset polymer and a second layer disposed on the first layer and comprising a hydrogel.

Balloon catheter suturing systems, methods, and devices having pledgets

An example system for detecting leakage around an occlusive implant disposed in the left atrial appendage includes an elongate shaft having a port disposed at a distal end region thereof and a first sensor disposed adjacent the elongate shaft. The elongate shaft is configured to be positioned adjacent the occlusive implant such that the first sensor is positioned on a first side of the occlusive implant and the port is positioned on a second side of the occlusive implant. Further, the first sensor is configured to measure a first parameter and the first parameter is utilized to determine a fluid leak between the occlusive implant and a tissue wall defining the left atrial appendage.

Occlusive sealing sensor system

A modified medical device for delivery of a pharmaceutically active material is described. The present inventors have found that many conventional medical devices contain a metallic or polymeric component that comes into contact with a pharmaceutically active material during use, and that the contact substantially reduce the pharmaceutical effectiveness of the pharmaceutically active material. The invention described herein concerns various modifications to the metallic or polymeric component that are effective to diminish such a substantial reduction in pharmaceutical effectiveness.

Biocompatible medical devices

A method for obtaining diagnostic information about a region of a living being, the region having a medical device with a radiopaque portion disposed therein. An X-ray beam having a first energy level in excess of the K-absorption edge of the radiopaque portion of the medical device is directed at the region to obtain a first image information and radiographically locate the medical device within the living being and an X-ray beam having second energy level at or below the K-absorption edge is applied to the region to obtain a second image information.
