An electric starter-generator is described. The generator may comprise a rotor, a housing, two bearings, a stator, and a cooling-fluid flowpath. The cooling-fluid flowpath may comprise a cooling-fluid entrance and exit, and a cooling-fluid channel in fluid communication with the entrance and exit. At least a portion of the channel may be defined by a fluid-tight coupling of the housing and a sleeve radially surrounding the outer race of either the bearings. The portion may form an annulus about the axis. The portion may comprise a radially inner surface defined by the sleeve, a radially outer surface define by said housing, and two axial surfaces. The two axial surfaces may extend a distance from the radially inner to outer surfaces that is less than a distance from one of the two axial surfaces to the other of the two axial surfaces.

Fluid cooling of grease-packed bearings

A rotor of an electric machine includes a main rotor body having a longitudinal axis, the main rotor body comprising: a hollow cylinder body with a first end and a second end; an integral end flange at the first end; a separate end flange disposed at the second end of the cylinder body; and laminations disposed on an outer surface of the cylinder body, the laminations comprising magnetic material.

A gearbox rigidly coupled to a static structure; a driven component rigidly coupled to another static structure; a clutch assembly floating between and coupled to the gearbox and driven component. The clutch may have aligned output and input shafts, defining an engagement surface, a bearing, and a magnetic friction plate coupled and rotating with the input shaft. The plate may have a friction-engagement face, and a magnetic flux generator. The magnetic flux generator may be rigidly coupled to a static housing and partially surrounded in the radial direction by a structure configured to reduce leakage of a magnetic flux, by defining a plurality of voids, which direct multiple passes of the magnetic flux through the engagement surface of the output shaft. The magnetic flux generator may create the magnetic flux that creates a magnetic force between the engagement face and the magnetic friction plate that causes them to engage.

Electromagnetic clutch for gas turbine accessories

The present disclosure provides a lubricating system for a dual splined hollow shaft. A fluid dam is formed circumferentially within the hollow shaft to control the lubrication of the dual splines. The fluid dam includes a pair of sidewalls extending radially inward from the inner wall of the hollow shaft to a height defined by a top wait. A channel formed through the pair of sidewalls permits the movement of lubricant between splines of the hollow shaft. An egress port extends from the top wall of the dam through the outer wall of the hollow shaft to permit lubricant to exit the hollow shaft.

Dual splined shaft
