The present invention relates to an aqueous dispersion comprising core-shell polymer latex particles wherein the shell of the core-shell polymer latex particles bears ethylenically unsaturated groups pending from the polymeric backbone of the shell of the latex particles wherein the ethylenic unsaturation is separated from the polymeric backbone by at least 3 chemical bonds and wherein the shell of the core-shell particles is cross-linked and the core of the core-shell particles is not crosslinked, to a method for making the aqueous dispersion, to an elastomeric film made from the aqueous dispersion, to an article comprising the elastomeric film and to a method for making a self-supported elastomeric film from the aqueous dispersion.

This invention relates to microgel compositions, and in particular, to gel compositions fanned by binding a plurality of individual microgel particles together. The present invention also relates to processes for the preparation of these compositions and their use for particular applications, especially medical applications such as the repair of damaged, degenerated or inappropriately formed load-beating tissue (such as, for example, intervertebral discs).

Microgel compositions

This invention relates to a method of treating a subject suffering from a condition characterized by damaged or degenerated soft tissue (such as, for example, intervertebral discs) by injecting swellable microgel particles to a location within the subject containing the damaged or degenerated soft tissue, after which said microgel particles covalently bind together in vivo to form a doubly cross-linked gel.

This invention relates to microgel compositions, and in particular, to gel compositions formed by binding a plurality of individual microgel particles together. The present invention also relates to processes for the preparation of these compositions and their use for particular applications, especially medical applications such as the repair of damaged, degenerated or inappropriately formed load-bearing tissue (such as, for example, intervertebral discs).

The present invention relates to compositions comprising a pH-responsive microgel particle, wherein the particle is adapted to undergo a conformational change in response to a variation in pH. The compositions may be used as medicaments for treating a disease characterized by damaged or degenerated soft tissues (e.g. intervertebral discs).

The invention provides polymer particles that are obtainable by a method selected from emulsion methods, diffusion methods and evaporation methods carried out in the presence of surface-engineering surfactant which is one or more polymer that displays a lower critical solution temperature, in aqueous media, that is between 10 to 90&#xb0; C., this polymer being the polymerization product of one or more monomer selected from polymerisable alkyleneglycol acrylate monomers and polymerisable alkyleneglycol methacrylate monomers. The polymer particles can be used in controlled release applications, such as flavour release applications, fragrance release applications and biomedical applications. The invention also provides a cell support matrix comprising the polymer particles.
