Electromechanically driven external fixator and methods of use

An orthotic for a joint of the human body, at which a body part pivots, includes first and second hinge members able to extend along respective posterior portions of body parts near the joint. The second member is able to be fitted with alternate orthotic support portions. A hinge connection joins the first member and the second member, permitting angular motion about an axis, and mutual disconnection and reconnection of the members at the hinge connection as the second member pivots relative to the first member.

Orthotic capable of accepting replaceable supports for a pivoting joint of a human body

An orthotic device for a joint of the human body, at which a body part pivots, includes first, second and third members. A first connection joins the first member and the second member and defines a first axis about which the first member and the second member pivot through an adjustable range of angular motion. A second connection joins the second member and the third member, defines a second axis substantially parallel to the first axis about which the second member and the third member pivot through a second range of angular motion, and includes a limit to plantar flexion about the second axis.

An orthotic device for supporting a jointed limb of the human body includes a first segment having a first support member that extends along a posterior portion of the limb about the joint, a first support pad secured to the first support member, and a channel slot extending along the first support member. An extension segment includes a second support member that also extends along the posterior portion of the limb and a second support pad secured to the second support member. The second support member can be adjustably coupled to the first segment by entering and engaging the channel slot.

An orthotic device for a joint of a human body at which a body appendage pivots includes a first member able to extend along a posterior portion of the appendage on a first side of the joint and a second member able to extend along a posterior portion of the appendage on a second side of the joint opposite the first side. A connection joining the first member and the second member provides a series of defined positions spaced angularly about an axis at which positions the connection can be alternately locked and released, allows pivoting, selective ratcheting and positioning of the second member relative to the first member about the axis, and can restrict pivoting of the second member relative to the first member within a desired angular range of motion. Notably, this orthotic device uniquely combines multiple joint functions into one convenient device which allows it to be used at different stages of therapy without being replaced or requiring additional equipment.

A removable boot/protector for a foot or ankle that has been placed in a brace, cast or orthotic device comprising of a flexible, substantially weather-resistant body portion having a an inner sole; an enclosed toe section that extends upwardly from a front end of said inner sole and terminates in a first toe fastening means; a pair of side sections each of which extend upwardly from said inner sole and terminate in a flap that extends from the toe section, upwardly along an upper arch region of the foot and toward a front region of the ankle, each of said side section flaps connecting together at least partially along said upper arch region; and an enclosed heel section that extends upwardly from a rear end of said inner sole, said inner sole, toe, heel and side sections defining a cavity into which the human foot may be inserted and removed.

Protective, removable boot for a brace, cast or orthotic device

An adjustable knee brace for immobilization of a patient's knee in multiple adjustment angular inclinations for use in therapeutic applications. The knee brace has a sheet of cushion material which is adapted to be wrapped about and secured to the patient's leg by a pair of interconnected rigid upper and lower leg engagement plates and associated straps. The leg engagement plates are determined to be registerably engaged against the medial aspect of the leg above and below the knee and have adjustable articulated locking interconnecting hinge and pivot fitting assemblies extending therebetween for both saggital and frontal plane brace adjustment. An independent knee engagement pad provides knee stabilization in cooperation with leg engagement plates.

Knee brace immobilizer

An ankle and foot orthosis brace for use in supporting, immobilizing and correction of physical anomalies associated with a patient's ankle or foot. The brace is of a multi-part construction having a generally L-shaped configuration with a contoured upper leg support and a foot support portion interconnected by a multi-planar adjustment hinge and bi-lateral bearing assemblies there between. A foot pad with apertured tabs extending there from being part of the foot portion with adjustable fabric fasteners extending from the foot portion and the leg portion securing the brace to the patient's leg and foot.

Tri-planar orthosis

An adjustable knee brace for immobilization of a patient's knee in multiple adjustment angular inclinations for use in therapeutic applications. The knee brace has a sheet of cushion material which is adapted to be wrapped about and secured to the patient's leg by a pair of interconnected rigid upper and lower leg engagement plates and associated straps. The leg engagement plates are determined to be registerably engaged against the medial aspect of the leg above and below the knee and have an adjustable articulated locking interconnecting hinge assembly extending there between. An independent knee engagement pad provides knee stabilization in cooperation with leg engagement plates.

A leg restraint and alignment device for use with ankle and foot orthotic braces used in support and immobilization of a patient's ankle and foot. The device is of a contoured L-shaped configuration with a curved leg engagement portion extending from a bifurcated attachment portion. A leg pad is removably attached to the leg portion with an adjustable fabric strap fastener extending in oppositely disposed relation thereto about the patient's leg.

Leg stabilization and alignment device

A heel and forefoot plantar surface suspension device to be located to relieve pressure to ulcerated or injured forefoot and heel areas of a patient's foot. A contoured elongated pad of synthetic resin foam that has specific qualities of high-density shapeability characteristics is positioned on the foot engagement portion of the therapeutic foot enclosure that will selectively isolate and suspend alternately the plantar forefoot portion or plantar heel portion from direct contact engagement with opposing engagement surfaces.

A therapeutic ankle and foot apparatus having a contact sensor mechanism. The sensor mechanism comprising a contact switch disposed between an ankle and foot apparatus and the heel of a patient's foot. The contact sensor mechanism determines any proximal contact with the patient's heel and communicates with an activation indicator that contact is present. The activation indicator may be visual and/or audible, and it may be positioned on the apparatus or at a remote location, communicating by wire or wireless telecommunication linkage.

Therapeutic ankle & foot apparatus having a contact sensor mechanism

An ankle and foot therapeutic device for use in supporting a patient's foot and leg and selectively immobilizing the patient's ankle. The brace is of a multiple part configuration having a heel portion, leg portion and foot portion. The leg portion and foot portion being interconnected by a range of motion assembly. The range of motion assembly having a pivot point for adjustable plantar and dorsi flexion by the patient's foot. The heel portion having a configuration to provide a space with the patient's heel.

An ankle and foot orthosis brace for use in supporting an immobilization of a patient's ankle and foot. The brace is of a multi-part L-shaped configuration with a contoured leg support portion and a foot portion interconnected by an incrementally hinge and lateral bearing assembly therebetween. A foot pad with an apertured tab extends therefrom and is part of the foot portion with adjustable fabric fasteners extending from both the foot portion, apertured tabs and the leg support portion secured to the brace to the patient's leg and foot.
