A main power line (+ and &#x2212; lines) is coupled to a power supply, for example a car battery, grounded to a vehicle chassis. Positive and negative main power lines are coupled to a power line gateway module, and spliced to carry power for a segment, until receiving, by splices, RF power line communications. The main power lines, now carrying power and RF power line communications are then coupled to remote modules. RF power line communication carries signal from the power line gateway module to a impedance matching network or a transformer are used to match impedances.

Power line signal coupler

Data and power are transmitted a master to a peripheral, with power communicated from a controller circuit board to the peripheral circuit board across data lines. Power is transmitted from the voltage regulator of the controller circuit board to an SPI or SSI master. Power over Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) uses Ethernet cable or custom 2 to 4-pair cable to move power high speed data between a microprocessor and a peripheral.

An improved filter for communications over a power bus may provide it to or minimize the effect of voltage spikes on a power line and/or may filter a power line signal with high pass and low pass filters to allow communicative signal reception on noisy power lines, and/or may filter a communicative signal transmitted from a radio modem with low pass filters to prevent high frequency harmonics and spurious signals from being conducted into and thereafter radiated from the power line.
