Methods, systems, and devices for modifying default display configurations for objects in a user interface are described. A system may support automatically drawing objects in a user interface such that the objects do not overlap and are legible to a user. To draw the objects with no overlaps, the system may determine when objects overlap based on a sweep procedure that identifies locations of default positions for each object to be displayed in the user interface. If two objects are identified to overlap in both a first and a second dimension during the sweep procedure, the system may modify one of the objects to prevent the overlap. For example, the system may hide the object or may find a next best location to draw the object such that the objects no longer overlap. Performing the sweep procedure may reduce latency and processing resources needed to identify any overlapping objects.

Monitor services deployable on device networks may be implemented using a modular approach, in which a core monitor service is mapped to one or more devices included in, or associated with, the device networks. Additional monitoring-related functionality may be provided to such devices using plug-ins, add-on services or service components, or other service modules, which interact with the core monitor service. The core monitor service(s) and any monitor service modules may be mapped, to specific ones of the devices, based on, for example, requirements of other services and/or relevant device metadata (e.g., capabilities) of the devices. In additional or alternative implementations, various protocols may be used to register new devices and deployed monitor service(s) with the distributed monitoring service(s) in a fast, secure, energy-efficient, and reliable manner, even as devices join or leave the device network(s).

The service mapper also may re-map the service between devices to maintain a quality and reliability of the service.

Visibility of the disposition information can be controlled through authorization. Systems, methods and computer program products, implementing techniques for automatic data acquisition and the real-time display of automatically acquired data. A system implementing the techniques includes one or more automatic data acquisition devices that emit data; and a data integration system that receives data from the automatic data acquisition devices and processes the data. The data integration system includes a display system for displaying the data to a user. The display system is operable to generate a graphical display and to update the graphical display automatically and only when new data from the automatic data acquisition devices is available. The display system is operable to update only affected parts of the graphical display but not necessarily the entire display.

A current state of an item being tracked by an item-tracking system may be determined using prior state information about the item. To ensure proper temporal order of the state information, software events triggered by physical events associated with the item are received from a reader at an event interpretation system. A database or queue within the event interpretation system holds the software events for a delay time determined by a maximum transmission delay time of the software events. A sorter within the event interpretation system orders the software events relative to one another so as to correspond to an order of the physical events. An association model of the event interpretation system may determine state information related to the item for storage in a state information database. Accordingly, system exceptions in the item tracking system may be reduced, and an accuracy and reliability of the system may be improved.
