A patient support apparatus may include a support surface configured to conduct air along a top face of the support surface so that heat and moisture from a patient lying on the support surface are drawn away from the top face of the support surface. An opening may be formed in a side of the support surface. A cavity may extend from the opening into the support surface. An inlet port may be positioned within the cavity and fluidly coupled to the top face. A blower assembly may be configured to position within the cavity. The blower assembly may have an outlet port that couples to the inlet port when the blower assembly is positioned within the cavity. The blower assembly may conduct air through the inlet port to the top face of the support surface.

The drive structure is coupled to the upper frame and configured to selectively engage a surface to, when activated, propel the person support apparatus along the surface. The control system is configured to determine an engagement status of the drive structure with the surface and trigger a response based on the engagement status.

The siderail assembly includes a noncollapsible siderail panel having an upper edge and a lower edge, a guide rail affixed to the panel and having an extension which extends past the lower edge of the panel, and a link rotatably mounted on the frame. The link is configured to receive the extension so that the link grips the extension but also permits translation of the guide rail relative to the link.

The push handle unit is coupled to a head end of the rolling base to provide a hand hold for a user pushing the rolling base from along the head end of the rolling base. A heat sink is formed from a base component and a clamping component. The base component and clamping component include a locking groove and a tab for insertion into the locking groove. The clamping component includes at least one clamping leg. The base component includes a surface.
