A concrete saw having a geared assembly for rotating a cutting blade is described. The saw utilizes a longitudinally oriented engine for rotating the blade. Various additional features and improvements are described including a particular belt tensioner assembly, an indicator and control system for cutting blade depth, a handle adjustment and locking system, and provisions for control of blade water are described.

Concrete saw

A floor or road saw () that includes a multi-speed transmission () that includes a neutral position. The transmission does not require the use of belts, polychains, or clutches that require regular maintenance and/or replacement. Moreover, the transmission () of the saw () may be shifted when the transmission is engaged and shifted through a set of gears () in a sequential manner. Further, the transmission is well suited for use on saws where power source or prime mover () is disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the saw ().

Mobile road or floor saw

The present invention provides a forward motion speed control system for a self-propelled concrete saw, a self-propelled concrete saw equipped with a forward motion speed control system and a method of controlling the forward motion speed of a concrete saw during a cutting or scoring operation. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the forward motion speed control system senses and monitors the speed of a power plant transmitting rotational energy to a saw blade and adjusts the forward motion speed of the self-propelled concrete saw to maximize the forward motion speed of the self-propelled concrete saw while maintaining the speed of the power plant in a peak operational range.

Self-propelled concrete saw with forward motion speed control system

A concrete saw for cutting concrete and other hard surfaces or substrates. The concrete saw includes a multispeed drive for transmitting power from the saw's engine to the saw's cutting blade. The multispeed drive includes a flexible belt for transmitting rotational energy from the drive shaft of the engine to the drive shaft for the blade, and a releasable tension device for placing tension on the belt and ensuring good engagement between the sprockets of the drive shafts. Upon release of the tension device, a user may move the belt to an alternate position on the sprockets and retension the belt, thereby providing a different drive ration and speed for the cutting blade at a constant engine speed.

Concrete saw with multispeed drive

A portable wire saw for cutting materials such as stone, concrete, asphalt and the like such as highway lane barriers. The portable wire saw includes a frame having a base on which is mounted a power source. Attached to the base is a plurality of wheels for easy portable movement of the wire saw. At least one of the wheels also provides a pivot point for the frame so that the wire saw can be pivoted between a cutting position and a non-cutting position. The power source drives a wire saw blade carried on a triangular support structure consisting of two pulleys and a drive wheel. The drive wheel is operably connected to the power source. The position of the pulleys is capable of being adjusted relative to the drive wheel. In a preferred embodiment the triangular support structure is arranged in a vertical orientation with the upper pulley functioning to keep the return path of the wire saw blade from having to pass through the material being cut.
