A test fixture for identifying the sweet spot of a bat suspends the bat in a vertical orientation via a fixed pivot point and limits rotational movement of the bat to a single plane. A pendulum with an impact mass is caused to contact the bat at various locations along the barrel of the bat at a fixed velocity. Rotational movement of the impact mass is limited to the single plane. Peak acceleration is measured proximate to the handle of the bat. The sweet spot is identified based on measured minimum peak acceleration. For example, if there is a single measured minimum peak acceleration then the corresponding contact location at the barrel is the sweet spot. If there are multiple measured minimum peak acceleration instances then a center or average contact location of those instances in identified as the sweet spot.

Identifying the sweet spot of a bat

A steering system for a snowboard includes two binding interface pods, one of which may be active and one of which may be passive. Rotation or tilting of a top plate of the active binding interface pod in response to rotation or tilting of the rider's steering foot causes counter-rotation of a steering fin under the rider's steering foot. The passive binding interface pod is responsive via a linkage between the active and passive binding interface pods to cause rotation of a steering fin under the rider's non-steering foot. Coordinated counter-rotation of the steering fins causes the board to turn in the direction of rotation of the rider's steering foot when the steering fins are unaligned. Optionally, both binding pods may be active in steering, i.e. enabling two footed steering.

Counter-rotating fin steering system for board sports

A system for separating components from a slurry of drilling fluid and drill cuttings on a shaker screen having an upper side and a lower side within a shaker. The system also has a pressure differential generator to pull an effective volume of air through a section of the shaker screen to enhance the flow of drilling fluid through the section of the shaker screen and the separation of drilling fluid from drill cuttings and further maintain an effective flow of drill cuttings off the shaker. A method of separating components of a slurry of drilling fluids and solids has the steps of delivering the slurry to a shaker, flowing the slurry over a first screen and applying an effective amount of vacuum to a first portion of the first screen to remove the drilling fluids from the slurry without stalling the solids on the first screen.

The invention provides a system for creating a prescribed vibration profile on a mechanical device comprising a sensor for measuring an operating condition of the mechanical device, a circular force generator for creating a controllable rotating force vector comprising a controllable force magnitude, a controllable force phase and a controllable force frequency, a controller in electronic communication with said sensor and said circular force generator, the controller operably controlling the controllable rotating force vector, wherein the difference between the measured operating condition and a desired operating condition is minimized.

Mechanical devices and method of creating prescribed vibration

Apparatus and vibratory separators having a base, a separator housing movably connected with the base, the separator housing including a top having an inlet chute, a bottom having a liquid discharge chute, a cylindrical sidewall defining an axial centerline and having a discharge spout, and at least one screen mounted within the separator housing. A vacuum system proximate the at least one screen may also be incorporated. The apparatus further includes at least one circular force generator (CFG) disposed on the separator housing, and at least one sensor positioned on the apparatus for measuring an operating function associated with and enabled by the vibration profile, and a controller in electronic communication with the sensor and with the at least one CFG. The difference between the measured operating function and the prescribed operating function is reduced. The apparatus may also include at least one CFG having a plurality of imbalanced masses which rotate in a plane parallel the axial centerline. The CFG may be disposed in an annular ring arrangement on the top, on the bottom, or CFGs disposed on both the top and the bottom.

A screen for a vibratory separator including a frame having a top surface and a bottom surface, and at least one filter element connected to the frame, wherein the bottom surface comprises a wedge engagement profile is also disclosed. A vibrating separator apparatus including a first side wall, a second side wall opposite the first side wall, a bottom wall connecting the first side wall and the second side wall, a first screen having a top surface and a bottom surface, at least one wedging apparatus disposed along the length of the bottom surface of the first screen is also disclosed.

A shaker screen for attachment to a bed of a shaker includes a screen frame having at least one mesh screen attached to the top side of the screen frame, wherein the screen frame is preferentially bowed prior to attaching the mesh screen to the screen frame.

Method of making a shaker screen

The invention relates to a screen frame adapted for use in a shaker and to which woven wire mesh is to be attached, comprising an outer perimeter and a plurality of plastics ribs extending between opposing regions of the perimeter, the frame being arranged such that, when fitted in a shaker to which it is adapted for, a portion of the opposing regions is clamped in place and a portion of the opposing regions is not clamped with the number of plastics ribs per unit length for the clamped portion greater than the number of plastics ribs per unit length for the unclamped portion, and to a shaker comprising at least one such screen frame.

Sifting screen

A scalping insert includes a scalping surface having a plurality of scalping slots therethrough, and a vertical base portion. A shaker screen assembly includes a screen frame having at least one slot. A scalping insert is positioned in the at least one slot of the screen frame. Processing fluid using a shaker screen assembly includes providing a flow of fluid to the shaker screen assembly and flowing the fluid through both a scalping surface and a screen surface of a single shaker screen deck.

Shaker screen assembly

Apparatus having a base, a separator housing movably connected with the base, the separator housing including a top having an inlet chute, a bottom having a liquid discharge chute, a cylindrical sidewall defining an axial centerline and having a discharge spout, and at least one screen mounted within the separator housing. A vacuum system proximate the at least one screen may also be incorporated. The apparatus further includes at least one circular force generator (CFG) disposed on the separator housing, and at least one sensor positioned on the apparatus for measuring an operating function associated with and enabled by the vibration profile, and a controller in electronic communication with the sensor and with the at least one CFG. The difference between the measured operating function and the prescribed operating function is reduced. The apparatus may also include at least one CFG having a plurality of imbalanced masses which rotate in a plane parallel the axial centerline. The CFG may be disposed in an annular ring arrangement on the top, on the bottom, or CFGs disposed on both the top and the bottom.

A fluid distribution apparatus including a housing configured to receive a drilling material and direct the drilling material onto a separatory surface; and a damper coupled to the housing and configured to distribute a flow of the drilling material onto the separatory surface is disclosed.
