Allowing a user to navigate data in a user interface when a modal dialog box has been activated. A method includes displaying a graphical user interface window. The method further includes allowing user input for modifying a particular data in the graphical user interface window. Thereafter, the method further includes displaying a modal dialog superimposed and obscuring at least a portion of the graphical user interface window, including obscuring at least a portion of the data, and to prevent user input for modifying the data in the graphical user interface window so long as the modal dialog remains active. The method further includes identifying information indicating that the modal dialog should be hidden. The method further includes at least partially hiding the modal dialog revealing at least a portion of the obscured data, while continuing to prevent user input for modifying the data in the graphical user interface window.

Transparent messaging

A collection of data is displayed. A filter user input is received from a user in order to filter the data. The filter user input can be on a grid-based filter, it can be on a filter pane, or on a column header filter. The data is filtered, based upon the filter user input, and the filtered data is displayed.

Filtering data in an enterprise system

An entity hub display includes a plurality of different sections, each section including a plurality of different components. The sections each correspond to a different aspect of data that makes up an entity. Each component is a user interface display element that is related to data within the corresponding section. The individual components can be selected and placed on the entity hub display based on a user's role and activities or tasks performed by a user in that role.

A search system, separate from a relational database, generates an index of information in the relational database that can be used to look up business records (or entities). A search system, that is also separate from the relational database, receives typing or other character inputs in a search user input mechanism and generates queries against the index based on the typing inputs, or other character inputs, received. The search system returns results and modifies those results as additional typing inputs, or characters, are received.

A workspace display includes a plurality of different groups, each group including a plurality of different components. Each group corresponds to a task, set of tasks or topic of information related to a user's role. The particular components included in each group are user interface display elements that are each related to an item of content within the corresponding group. The workspace display has filter mechanisms that are actuated to filter the content displayed in the components on the workspace display.

Filtering content on a role tailored workspace

An adaptable user interface is formed based on a role assumed by a user and the identification of tasks in a process that need to be performed. For each role assumed by the user, a set of tasks assigned to the role is identified. Each task is evaluated to determine if it is an active task that needs to be performed in one or more processes. For each active task, an element is added to the user interface.
