In one aspect, an implant configured to attach a first bone section to a second bone section comprises an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is configured for insertion into the first bone section. The extramedullary portion is configured to abut a surface of the second bone section and includes a first fastener aperture configured to receive a bone fastener inserted in the second bone section. The intramedullary portion and the extramedullary portion are coupled such that the extramedullary portion is rotatable with respect to the intramedullary portion.

A system and method for use when forming an osteotomy that rely upon an arrangement of surgical instruments with a targeting guide having a handle extending substantially along a longitudinal axis, with one or more burr holes extending from a first side of the handle to a second side of the handle. A head is coupled to a distal end of the longitudinal handle. The head defines a plurality of guide holes sized and configured to receive a k-wire therethrough. The arrangement allows accurate adjustment of the surgical instruments in relation to the bones targeted for the osteotomy.

Chevron osteotomy tools and methods

An instrument for use in cartilage removal comprises an elongate body having a first end and a longitudinal axis having a longitudinal direction. A cartilage removal portion is coupled to the elongate body at the first end. The cartilage removal portion includes a plurality of serrated blades substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and adapted for removing material while moving in the longitudinal direction. Each serrated blade has a centroid located along the longitudinal axis.

A guidance system comprises a first guide configured to be detachably mounted to a first portion of a bone. Implantable medical devices are provided. In one embodiment, a device includes a body having an external surface defining an outer profile of the device. The body includes a porous matrix including a series of interconnected macropores defined by a plurality of interconnected struts each including a hollow interior. A filler material substantially fills at least a portion of the series of interconnected macropores. The external surface of the body includes a plurality of openings communicating with the hollow interior of at least a portion of the plurality of interconnected struts. In a further aspect of this embodiment, the external surface includes exposed areas of the filler material and porous matrix in addition to the exposed openings. In another aspect, the porous matrix is formed from a bioresorbable ceramic and the filler material is a biologically stable polymeric material. Still, other aspects related to this and other embodiments are also disclosed.

Implantable medical devices

A surgical guide includes a first guide arm extending from a first end to a second end on a first longitudinal axis. The first guide arm defines a first plurality of openings sized and configured to receive a first guide element therethrough. A second guide arm extends from a first end to a second end on a second longitudinal axis. The second guide arm defines a second plurality of openings sized and configured to receive a second guide element therethrough. A pivot element couples the first end of the first guide arm to the first end of the second guide arm such that an angular distance between the first guide arm and the second guide arm can be adjusted in a first plane.

Minimally invasive guides and cutting instruments

An implant having a unitary body includes an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is sized and structured to be received within an intramedullary canal of a first bone and defines a longitudinal axis. The extramedullary portion includes a surface defining an axis that is disposed at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. An aperture defined along the extramedullary portion is sized and configured to receive a fastener therein for coupling the extramedullary portion of the implant to a second bone.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for correcting a bone defect

A targeting guide includes a body defining a first guide hole sized and configured to receive a guide sleeve therethrough. The first guide hole extends through the body on a first axis. An alignment arm extends between a first end and a second end. The first end is coupled to the body. A tip extends from the second end of the alignment arm. A free end of the tip is aligned with the first axis of the first guide hole.
