A method and apparatus for secure distribution of digital content is provided. In accordance with at least one embodiment, an intermediate device maintains an authorized content sink list which it uses to allow reauthorization of a first content sink for access to first content from a first content source when the first content sink has a first content sink entry on the authorized content sink list. In accordance with at least one embodiment, reauthorization is conditioned upon a first content sink entry currency status having not yet expired. In accordance with at least one embodiment, the intermediate device allows authentication of the first content sink by the first content source when no first content sink entry exists on the authorized content sink list or when the first content sink entry currency status has expired.

Method and apparatus for secure distribution of digital content

A flexible electronic asset management system using Ethernet connectivity for electronic devices is presented. The invention enables multiple electronic devices to be controlled, monitored, and accessed from any browser connected to a computer network. A flattened stack approach is used to process network packet data. The flattened stack approach treats the network packet as a single string of data and uses the first few bytes of information to decide whether to drop or process the incoming data thus providing for faster network traffic processing. Since the lowest layer of the OSI stack has knowledge of what applications are active in the upper layers, the flattened stack allows the packet to be discarded at the earliest possible point so no processing power is wasted. The flattened stack also organizes its check/processing based on the raw data stream thus minimizing buffer requirements and providing for easier implementation into hardware.

Method and apparatus for providing universal web access functionality

A method and apparatus for implementing a video test generator having an overlay cursor and an associated scope trigger are presented. A user interface permits a user to move a cursor across a displayed image, and to select a scope trigger point in the analog video stream based on the location of the cursor in the displayed image. Video waveforms associated with particular image pixels of interest or groups of pixels are observed on an oscilloscope by placing the cursor over the subject pixels or pixels on the video display and using the derived scope trigger to time the capture of the video waveform on the oscilloscope. The cursor is generated by tracking the horizontal and vertical position of the cursor, and altering or substituting out the video signal where the pattern of the cursor should appear.

Method and apparatus for implementing an overlay cursor and associated scope trigger in a video test generator

This invention describes a method and apparatus for vertically locking input and output video frame rates. The output vertical sync pulse is locked in phase with the input vertical sync pulse, regardless of the input format and frequency. The output resolution, horizontal refresh rate, and delay are all user selectable. Two Phase Locked Loops are connected in series to achieve vertical lock between the input and output frames. Locking the vertical sync pulses between the input and output frames will eliminate mixing of pixels from different input frames in one output frame. The first Phase Locked Loop generates the output pixel clock required to satisfy the user's display preferences but may not precisely represent the desired output pixel clock required for frame locking because current Phase Locked Loops use integer dividers. A second Phase Locked Loop adjusts its output, which is the reference frequency to the first Phase Locked Loop, until a lock is achieved. A free running oscillator measures the frequency of the incoming video and sends its output to a micro-controller that computes the divider required in the Phase Locked Loop based on user selected output resolution. The user may also adjust the delay between the vertical input and output video frames.

The present invention is used with single devices mounted on a ceramic substrate. The devices are broken out of the sheet, after all testing, electrical conditioning, and screening, as small surface mount devices. Conductive strips are formed on the ceramic substrate and are spaced to match a standard circuit board edge connector. These strips are electrically connected to the devices to allow testing and burn-in in sheet form rather than testing each device individually. The design reduces handling of the individual devices. The invention allows all of the testing and assembly to be done in a 'batch' fashion. The board that is used to test the devices is separated to create the package for the individual components. The technique of the invention reduces cost and handling damage.

A system and method for capturing data communicated between a computer system and a printer. The data capture system monitors data communicated between the computer system and printer, acquires pertinent portions of the data, and stores the acquired data for later use. This system and method may be used to acquire patient encounter data, including demographic and insurance data, entered into a medical provider's computer office management system when the patient visits the medical provider. Often, the medical provider will print patient encounter data at a printer connected to the office management system. The data capture system acquires and stores pertinent portions of the patient encounter data, such as the demographic data, communicated from the medical provider's office management system to the printer. The acquired patient demographic data stored in the data capture system is later transferred to a commercial laboratory that performs tests on patient specimens taken from a patient visiting the medical provider. The commercial laboratory uses the patient demographic data to properly process the patient specimens and bill the patient's insurance company.
