A compact, hand-held monocular device having excellent stability in view of its construction which allows the device to be held against the side of the head of the user. The device is of unitary construction, without assembly of multiple parts necessary, and can be manipulated between an active, in-use configuration which allows one-handed operation, and a storage configuration wherein the device folds flat, allows protection of the optics and storage in a small space such as a pocket or purse or hung on a neck lanyard.

Embodiments of a surface heat exchanger for a vehicle are described. In one embodiment, a surface heat exchanger includes a plurality of fins on a first outer surface The surface heat exchanger is mounted within an interior of a duct of a vehicle. An inlet of the duct is located on a side of the vehicle forward of a rear axle of the vehicle and an outlet of the duct is located rearward of the inlet. The plurality of fins of the surface heat exchanger are exposed to the interior of the duct. The plurality of fins are configured to transfer heat to airflows interacting with the plurality of fins as the airflows pass through the duct.

A motor vehicle having a front end, a pair of opposing front wheel wells rearward of the front end, and an air guide duct having at least one air inlet disposed forward of the front wheel wells and facing the front end of the motor vehicle. Embodiments of an upper body heat exchanger for a vehicle. In one embodiment, an upper body heat exchanger includes a first portion having a plurality of fins disposed on a first surface. The upper body heat exchanger also includes a second portion having a plurality of heat transfer fluid passages disposed on a second surface of the upper body heat exchanger. The second portion is beneath the first portion. The upper body heat exchanger is mounted on the vehicle such that the first surface of the first portion of the upper body heat exchanger is exposed. The plurality of heat transfer fluid passages are configured to transfer heat from heated fluid flowing through the plurality of heat transfer fluid passages to airflows interacting with the plurality of fins as the vehicle is moving.

A vehicle heat transfer system includes a flow through heat exchanger, a surface heat exchanger, at least a first vehicle component, and a controller that is operable to selectively transfer heat to or from the first vehicle component with either or both of the flow through heat exchanger and the surface heat exchanger based on one or more operating conditions. In a further aspect, a vehicle heat transfer system includes, a vehicle component positioned on a vehicle that is heated or cooled by a fluid, and a surface heat exchanger positioned on the vehicle, the surface heat exchanger having an inlet that receives the fluid used to heat or cool the vehicle component, an outlet that returns the fluid to heat or cool the vehicle component, and a closed fluid path extending between the inlet and the outlet.

A starter circuit includes a battery, a starter electrically coupled with the battery, a relay disposed between the battery and the starter, and a starter switch mounted remotely from the starter. The starter includes a switch assembly and a starter motor. The switch assembly includes an actuator and a start signal switch. The relay is configured to operate to provide current to the switch assembly to close the start signal switch in response to a received signal. The starter switch closes in response to the start signal switch being closed, whereby the battery delivers current to the starter motor when the starter switch is closed. A starter unit is also disclosed.

An alternator assembly for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The alternator assembly includes a rotor including a shaft. A torsion member is disposed inside a central cavity of the shaft. A pulley is connected to the torsion member to allow some decoupling between the pulley and the shaft.

A heat exchanger and related method of making is disclosed herewith. The heat exchanger may have first and second fluid reservoirs that retain a quantity of fluid and also a plurality of tubes that extend between the first and second reservoirs and circulate the fluid therebetween. First and second header plates may be retained respectively in the first and second reservoirs through which the plurality of tubes are mounted. First and second pressure reduction plates may each have a plurality of apertures that respectively encompass first and second ends of each of the plurality of tubes. The plurality of apertures may have tapered side walls that taper outwardly from the respective ends, to reduce turbulence of the fluid between the plurality of tubes and the first and second reservoirs.

The system includes a gear arrangement for the drivetrain of the electronic throttle body that includes a driving gear, a set of driven gears and a set of intermediate gears. A system for protecting a crank angle sensor is disclosed. The system includes a protective member, a heat insulating member and an airflow deflecting member. The heat insulating member insulates against heat from adjacent heat sources. The airflow deflecting member directs driving wind into an interior portion of the protective member to cool the air adjacent to a portion of the crank angle sensor. The protective member also includes holes to receive the driving wind directed from the airflow deflecting member.

A rear seat viewing system for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The rear seat viewing system includes a mirror attached to a mirror mounting device. The mirror mounting device may retract the mirror into an exterior surface of a rear seat in a stowed position and extend the mirror outside of the exterior surface of the rear seat in an employed position. A linkage mechanism attached to the mirror mounting device can allow horizontal and vertical adjustment of the mirror.
